We are proud to announce that team "hehe i do cp" from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has qualified for the prestigious International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals 2026, scheduled to take place in Dubai, U.A.E. from 15 November to 20 November Hosted by Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy and the ICPC foundation.
The team comprises:
* Shorya Singhal (B.Tech, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence)
* Atish Sahoo (B.Tech, Computer Science and Engineering)
* Druhin Lamba (BS-MS, Mathematics and Computing)
Under the mentorship of Prof. Balasubramanian Raman, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Roorkee.
Our team earned this opportunity by securing 2nd place at the Chennai Regional Contest, 2nd place in the ICPC Asia West Amritapuri Multisite Regional Contest and 9th position at the ICPC Asia West regionals. With participation from over 2,500 teams across India, being selected for the World Finals places us among the top student programming teams in the country.
The ICPC is the world’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious university-level programming competition, engaging over 3,000 universities from 115 countries and six continents. From this vast pool of talent, only about 140 teams make it to the World Finals, including representatives from globally renowned institutions such as MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge. Qualification is widely recognized as one of the highest honours a university programmer can achieve, on par with the International Olympiads in Science, Mathematics, and Informatics.
IIT Roorkee continues to uphold a strong legacy in competitive programming, having qualified for the ICPC World Finals 12 times in the last 13 years —a testament to the institution’s consistent excellence in technical education and innovation.
We look forward to representing IIT Roorkee on the global stage and competing alongside the best student programmers in the world.
