The meme originates from episode 16 of the animated series "Smeshariki: New Adventures," titled "The Packers." In the episode, Hedgehog prepares a birthday present for Karych—a cart. However, at the most crucial moment, the gift Suddenly, the refrigerator falls. A distraught Hedgehog tells Krosh about it, sobs in despair, and utters the phrase, "H-h-h... The refrigerator!" Krosh tries to calm him down, but the situation is already taking on a comical tone.

The meme quickly gained popularity on TikTok, alongside the memes "Fizhma" and "Tirlikurenduy." In early February, users began reposting the meme en masse, also using altered versions of the word "Kholodilnik" (Refrigerator); Popular humorous techniques were used: intentional spelling errors, replacing letters with Ukrainian or Belarusian equivalents (for example, "a" instead of "o" or "і" instead of "i"). Thus, instead of "Холодильник," many users began writing, for example, "Халадільнік😭."
The official Smeshariki TikTok account later reposted this moment in high quality, adding the caption, "You scrolled to the original #8523." A similar technique had previously been used with the "Fizhma" meme. However, only one video was released with this meme, unlike "Fizhma," which had four videos published.
