There were 11 governor provinces and 6 chief commissioner provinces as of 1941 census.

Governor Provinces:

1. Sind (Green: North-West)

2. Punjab (Purple: North-West)

3. NW Frontier (Yellow: North-West)

4. United Provinces (Red: Central)

5. Bihar (Yellow: Central)

6. Bengal (Purple: East)

7. Assam (Green: Far East)

8. Central Provinces & Berar (Blue: Central)

9. Bombay (Pink: Western Coast)

10. Orissa (Pink: Eastern Coast)

11. Madras (Orange: South)

Chief Commissioner Provinces:

1. Baluchistan (Red: Far West)

2. Ajmer-Merwara (Yellow Dot: West)

3. Coorg (Green Dot: South)

4. Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Orange: Eastern Islands)
