god-in-the-schiz0id-mindAnonymous asked:i kinda feel like your "All religion is bad" post misses certain things that do exist out there in the world. personally, i was raised an atheist, and will remain an atheist. i find it impossible to believe in gods and anything else of the sort. despite this, i do really like the ideas of Buddhism. they do not require you to follow or believe in any god, you can replace faith with knowledge and a willingness to help and love others. there isn't a god or deity to worship, and they directly teach that no god created us or controls our lives. anyway. this isnt intended to be a hate anon, im just giving an opinion. i like that they teach that we are all connected as humans. I do agree, and there definitely are religions that aren't inherently bad, I respect those to a certain extent definitely. I think my personal problem is that I can't begin to comprehend believing in religion as a whole, it simply perplexes me. It's so unnatural (to me, personally, I do understand the human need for religion and where it comes from) and I don't understand it. I understand that's my own personal problem and I should try to be more understanding. I think some religious traditions are beautiful. I think religious art is absolutely gorgeous and I've been to many religious places on my travels (Hagia Sofia, the Blue mosque, Santa Maria, Santa Croce ect). Also, do correct me if I'm wrong but - doesn't Buddhism also play into a lpt of patriarchal ideas? #rant#religion31
