hey everyone, i made a goal earlier this month to post at least 5 blog posts, as well as 5 substack posts this march. so, i've been overly trying to come up with post ideas, and if you didn't already see my moodboard for this spring and march, it's very airy, cottagecore bridgerton-esque aesthetic. and i'm SOOO in love with it. so, i wanted to delve into that aesthetic with these posts. and i thought this would actually be the perfect way to start spring.
thank you so much for reading this little guide, i may consider making a part two to this "strawberry girl" guide series, but i mainly will focus on other spring content. i will also be posting on my substack and instagram AND tiktok as well, so make sure to go check them out. if you have any other spring content suggestions, my askbox is always open and ready for ideas and questions!

hi mindy!! i was just scrolling through your page and wanted to ask on tips for searching for scholarships/preparing for my senior year of high-school? i've been stressing a bit because of my grades and want to at least get a bit of a boost before my senior year starts! any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!!
✧・゜: scholarship hunting & senior year prep: :・゜✧:・゜✧
hey lovely! ✨
thank you so much for your ask! i remember that pre-senior summer anxiety so well, that weird mix of excitement and complete terror about the future. first of all, take a deep breath. you're already ahead of the game by thinking about this now instead of scrambling in october (like i did, classic me behavior).
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ scholarship hunting secrets ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
let's talk about finding free money first, because who doesn't love that?
𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭: the absolute best scholarships are often the small local ones! check with your:
community foundation
parents' employers
local businesses
religious organizations (if applicable)
civic groups (rotary, kiwanis, elks lodge)
these typically have way fewer applicants than national scholarships!
𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦: make a master document with:
your activities/leadership positions
community service hours (with specific impact numbers!)
awards/honors
special circumstances or hardships
career goals
having this ready makes applications so much faster!
𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘱 𝘢 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮: create a spreadsheet tracking:
scholarship name
amount
deadline
requirements
status (applied/pending/rejected/awarded)
essay prompts (many can be recycled with tweaks!)
𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴:
fastweb.com
scholarships.com
goingmerry.com (my personal fave, it aggregates and lets you apply to multiple at once)
your school counselor's list (they often know about local ones not listed online)
𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴: there are scholarships for duck tape prom dresses, being left-handed, having the last name zolp… seriously. the more specific and unusual, the less competition!
𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘴: those USD 250-500 scholarships add up and often have way fewer applicants.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ grade rescue mission ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
about those grades... i've been there too! here's what helped me:
𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘸:before senior year starts, email them asking if there are:
summer assignments you can get ahead on
extra credit opportunities
specific areas to focus on for improvement
teachers love proactive students and are more likely to help you!
𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺: many schools offer summer courses to replace bad grades. check if yours does!
𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴: if you know what you're taking, watch youtube videos on the subjects now. even 15 minutes a day gives you a huge advantage.
𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮: senior year is chaotic with applications, so create a sustainable study routine now before the chaos hits. i have soo many posts about studying + routines for studying.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ senior year prep checklist ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵:
2-3 reach schools
3-4 match schools
2 safety schools
research their specific requirements now so nothing surprises you!
𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴:
register for fall sat/act dates now (they fill up fast!)
use free resources like khan academy for test prep
consider whether test-optional schools might be a good fit
𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺:
approach teachers before senior year starts
provide them with a "brag sheet" of your accomplishments
give at least 3-4 weeks notice (minimum!)
𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨:
the common app essay prompts are already available
jot down meaningful experiences/challenges/growth moments
draft a skeleton outline before school starts
𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵:
focus on depth over breadth
highlight leadership and impact
consider what story your activities tell about you
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ hidden senior year wisdom ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘴:
complete the fafsa as early as possible (opens october 1st)
use the net price calculator on college websites
consider applying to schools known for generous aid
look into tuition exchange programs if your parents work at a university
𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮:
identify an adult who can proofread applications
find a senior-year accountability buddy
join application-focused discord servers or groups
schedule regular check-ins with your counselor
𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯:
senior year can be overwhelming
create a simple routine that helps you decompress
schedule application-free weekends
remember that your worth isn't tied to acceptance letters
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ my personal tips ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
keep a "wins" journal where you document every tiny achievement or proud moment, perfect for scholarship essays and fighting imposter syndrome
create email templates for reaching out to schools, teachers, and scholarship committees
set calendar alerts for deadlines 1 week and 3 days before they're due
find your application soundtrack (mine was taylor swift's folklore, don't judge me)
reward yourself after completing applications (i used face masks and boba tea as motivation)
remember that this is just one chapter in your story. i know it feels like everything depends on this year, but i promise you'll find your path even if it looks different than you expected.
sending you all the good vibes for senior year! you've got this!
xoxo, mindy 🤍
p.s. if you have specific questions about certain scholarships or schools, feel free to send another ask! i love helping with this stuff.

glowetteeAnonymous asked:hey mindyyyy!guess what?? i just switched my insta account from a professional one to a personal one and i feel soooo free. for context: i started a local art studio (i host cute little art classes..well i hope i can LOL) in my area (ahhh) i was so excited and nervous (still am) and so i set up an insta account. i think i let impatience and fear get in the way of ...well..being patient lol. i ended up switching to a professional account and suddenly paying for sooo many ads. it ended up stunting my reach (i know i cant prove it entirely, but i think when i switched to a professional account insta wanted me to pay for ads, i hear at times they stop showing your content to your actual followers, it just became ten times harder...).it's been 3+ months and i have not had ONE SINGLE booking. i love the aesthetic and the grid i'm building, butttt i've been stressed and anxiety ridden, spending all this money for views and no sales. i was playing into this useless metrics game. it was affecting me mentally but also, i don't enjoy posting anymore!! all i do is think and think and so every post feels stressful. i want to have fuuuun again.so i went back to personal idccc and now i feel like a weight is off my shoulders, like i can start again. i'm still very scared, and maybe i didn't make the right move. maybe i still won't get orders. but, i want to have fun posting instead of worrying and worrying about sales. i've tried the other way, now i'll try it this way—having fun chatting about my art, the studio, and actually trying to build community. all of this to say—do you have any advice for me??? any tips and tricks? i want to keep feeling free while also gaining followers that care and want to invest in my studio offerings. what do you think mindy?? ahhh idkkkk. but i'm heree and i'm kinda liking how it feels LOL. <33333THANK YOU so much for reaching out and explaining this, i had fun reading it!i really think you made the right choice, right off the bat, i am saying YES! i am so proud of you for switching back. you don't even realize how huge that is. most people stay stuck in the “I must be professional and optimized and strategic 24/7” spiral until they burn out so hard they start hating the thing they originally loved. you caught yourself before that cliff. that’s growth. that’s intuition. that’s you choosing yourself over the algorithm.instagram pushed the performance of professionalism to small creators and businesses, so it only makes sense that you fell into it and switched. instagram is telling you "oh cool, you're a business now. pay me."every post becomes a gamble, a metric, and then every idea becomes a "should i?" instead of a "i want to."i don't know what's going on with the world, but it's trying to take human creativity away. ai, ai art and music, instagram and social media in general taking away creativity from people and suggesting "virality" instead. that's all. no creativity, no community-building, no art. just a pastel ui and capitalism.you pivoting is what real artists do! personal accounts DOOO feel lighter, people connect with PEOPLE more than brands. that's something i had to consider with my personal brand as glowettee, to be myself more than a robot who's overly professional.✧ document! post messy middle, behind-the-scenes, YOUR pov. think of yourself as a girl with a dream and art as her passion NOTTT a corporation!✧ use your own voice, warm, excited, ALWAYS be a little chaotic, and VERY VERY REAL! i promise you this is what people fall in love with.✧ show your face sometimes, depending on what you're comfortable with. my brand is faceless but i plan to show my face in the near future. remember this is not for every post, but since you are a small business and plan for people to book, even a little "oh hi, i'm the girl behind this studio" every few weeks can really help!✧ make your page feel like a place, NOOOTT A PRODUCT!!! post -> your art, space, tools, inspo, process, thoughts, community moments✧ please always engage like a human, don't act like a marketer. comment on local creators' posts, follow other small businesses in your area, reply to comments and stories etc✧ this is a good tip: make booking feel easy. have one clear link (like a link in bio or website) one clear call to action, you can alter it every few posts✧ local businesses grow differently. don't think of trying to go viral, just try to focus on the goal of becoming known and building an active community. it always takes time, i promise, but just keep going!and finally... you didn't ruin anything, switching back to personal was ALIGNMENT. you're starting right not over. focus on building something sustainable, something joyful, something that feels like YOUUU!!! and that's the kind of energy people actually WANT to be around.just know directly from me: you WILL get bookings, you WILL find your people, you WILL create a little art world that feels like home!i'm always cheering for you!!! and if you ever want any extra tips just dm me here or instagram or substack or tiktok (all @glowettee)#glowettee#girlblogger#girl blogger#asks#mindyanswers#mindymusings2
glowetteeAnonymous asked:mindy, pls tell me what i'm doing wrong.i have like 200+ posts i've been posting for months and months to the point where tumblr is frustrating me. I only have like 30 followers...and only two of them like my posts (occasionally, like why are they even following me if they don't care, i don't get it 😭) and i only ever get reblogs from non-followers who just stop by and then disappear....what am i doing wrong??? this feeling suckssss.omg love, thank you so much for reaching out.this is such a good question, so basically i go through the same thing as well. it does not matter that i have over 5.5k followers, PEOPLE ARE INACTIVE. it does not matter how good your blog post is, you can sometimes get 40 likes, or sometimes over 1000. and yes, WHY ARE THEY EVEN FOLLOWING IF THEY DONT LOOK?! IDKKK!? please tell me.you are not doing anything wrong i promise you. if your content is quality, and you're consistent, you should be making a lot of progress and people looking at your blog and content. this is why i have migrated to many other platforms, like tiktok, instagram and substack, because tumblr is not what it used to be. tumblr is literally the SLOWEST platform on earth and half the time people follow because they like your vibe but they're too shy or too lazy to actually interact. it is NOT personal at all. the algorithm barely shows posts to your own followers, so most of us grow from random reblogs, not from the people who already follow us. (i hope that makes sense)also 200 posts sound like a LOTTT but in tumblr time it's honestly still "new girl era" most blogs don't start moving until like month 6-12. when you've built a little ecosystem of mutuals, tags and people who recognize your username, you're just in the quiet part before it picks up. KEEP TAGGING PROPERLY! i cannot stress this enough. keep posting what YOUUU actually like, reblog other girls so they see you exist and to actually make moots. and don't just stare at the numbers because they literally mean nothing here. like, tumblr doesn't even show how many followers you have to other people, it's not even on your profile. feel free to dm me and i can give you more personalized advice and post ideas and extra tips for your profile. BUT TYSM for this question. that's why i've been trying to be consistent with making content for my other platforms because tumblr is just soooo slow and it's disappointing to take DAYS to make content just to barely get anyone liking it/interacting with it. so, i completely understand!! keep doing you, i promise you'll get there! #glowettee#girlblogger#mindymusings7

glowetteeAnonymous asked:Honestly sucks that you remove people from your girlblogger page because they don’t seem like a girl and the fact that I got a “prove it” response. Like was I suppose to show my titties? hi, i want to be really clear about this. i wasn’t the one who removed you. i don’t handle individual removals WITH sending messages; that’s my mod’s role. since you’re on anon, i can’t see your blog or do anything about your status unless you message me directly.we take safety seriously in this space. there are bots, adult blogs, and men pretending to be girls trying to get into girl‑only communities, so every blog gets checked. that’s not discrimination. that’s basic protection for the girls already here.i’ve always said that if someone feels they were removed unfairly, they can message me or my mod and we’ll look at it. what i didn’t say is anything about “proving” your body. that’s inappropriate, and it’s not something you should be sending into my inbox.so please don’t make assumptions about what happened or speak to me like i personally targeted you. if you want to be added back, message me off anon or reach out to my mod directly. that’s the only way we can actually help you. i'm not sure why you thought sending me a message through my inbox ANONYMOUSLY would help your case.112

glowetteeRebloggedglowetteeFollowAnonymous asked:How to make the most of college when you dislike the school, can’t transfer, don’t get along with the people, and have just one year leftglowettee answered:how to make the most of college when you hate the campus hi love, okay first off, i just want to say it is totally valid to feel stuck and frustrated when you're in a place that doesn't feel like home, especially with college being such a HUGEEE part of life. but since you've got just one year left, i completely understand.college doesn't have to be the perfect "find your people and best years of your life" montage, most of the times it's just a place you pass through. and that's okay. one year left isn't a sentence!!!just think of this last year less like "college life" and more like a residency program for your future self. you're literally there to build, father and QUIETLY leave stronger than you arrived.✦ focus on what you can control. you might not love the school or the people, but you CANNNN control how you spend your time and energy. find classes, clubs or projects that actually interest you.✦ just note in your head: YOU ARE NOT THERE FOR COMMUNITY! you're there for leverage. classes professors, libraries, career services, education, internships, alumni networks etc. these are all TOOLS! use the institution without emotionally/socially investing in it. i hope that makes sense.✦ if the existing social scene is NOT your vibe, i recommend just trying to connect with the people OUTSIDE your immediate circle. online groups, study buddies, OR even people from different departments!✦ STOP MAKING THE CAMPUS YOUR WORLD!!! it's super important to create a life that exists beside school. like routines at cafes OFF campus. a gym, park, or walking route, online communities related to your interests or field. a personal project that has NOTHING to do with grades.✦ since you can't transfer, use this time to reflect and plan. just think about what you want after college and use this year to build a roadmap for your next steps.✦ GOOD TIPS: find one professor who respects you, one class you ACTUALLY engage with, one quiet place that feels neutral or safe, and one habit that structure your week.✦ when you don't fit somewhere, the instinct is to resist or take it personally. just observe people, observe dynamics, observe how institutions function. just observe.✦ a year is plenty of time to shift trajectory, if you focus outward. think of things like: internships, portfolio building, informational interviews, skill certifications, writing, research, or creative work tied to what you want after graduation.you don't have to bloom where you're planted!!!!! finishing something you didn't love without letting it shrink you is a HUGGEEEE strength!i hope this helps you <3xoxo mindy1356
