These are the approximate positions of the U.S. Navy’s deployed carrier strike groups and amphibious ready groups throughout the world as of March 2, 2026, based on Navy and public data. In cases in which a CSG or ARG is conducting disaggregated operations, the chart reflects the location of the capital ship. This post was updated to correct the number of destroyers in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7) is operating in the Philippine Sea following a port visit in Okinawa, Japan. Amphibious warships USS San Diego (LPD-22) and USS New Orleans (LPD-18) have been operating with Tripoli.

In the Antarctic

USCGC Polar Star (WAGB-10) Polar-class heavy icebreaker is conducting icebreaker operations in McMurdo Sound in support of Operation Deep Freeze.

In the Caribbean Sea

The Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group is operating in the Caribbean Sea.

The Amphibious Ready Group includes USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7), USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD-28), USS San Antonio (LPD-17) and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit based in Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Base New River.

Iwo Jima pulled into Ponce, Puerto Rico, on Sunday, according to ship spotters.

The 22nd MEU consists of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced), Combat Logistics Battalion 26 and the Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment.

Guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG-70) is also operating in the region. Lake Erie is homeported at Naval Base San Diego, Calif.

Littoral Combat Ship USS Wichita (LCS-13) is also operating in the region.

In the Eastern Mediterranean Sea

Destroyer Squadron 2

Destroyer Squadron 2 is based in Naval Station Norfolk, Va., and embarked on Gerald R. Ford.

  • USS Mahan (DDG-72), homeported at Naval Station Norfolk.

There are four independently deployed guided-missile destroyers in the Mediterranean Sea.

  • USS Oscar Austin (DDG-79) homeported at Naval Station Rota.

In the Persian Gulf

Littoral Combat Ships USS Canberra (LCS-30), USS Tulsa (LCS-16) and USS Santa Barbara (LCS-32) are based in Bahrain with the Navy’s first operational mine countermeasure mission packages in U.S. 5th Fleet.

In the Arabian Sea

Destroyer Squadron 21

Destroyer Squadron 21 is based in Naval Station San Diego, Calif., and embarked with Abraham Lincoln.

Amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD-8) departed Tuesday and returned Saturday to San Diego, according to ship spotters.
