Digimon Lied to me
So I was playing digimon survive and one of the characters digimon digivolved into shellmon as a champion. I was like "hold on a minute" as my core memory was unlocked.
I knew for a FACT in this book from my childhood said he was a damn rookie. I always thought that was wierd caus he was so big and it took Greymon to beat him in the show. But I believed this book and came up in my head "well augumon was doing some damage to shellmon in the show so maybe he was just a really big rookie" but nah.
He was a champion all along. Ive been living with false information my whole life 😄.
a lot of these books for kids have a lot of errors cause they are mostly publishers cash grabbing on the ip.
I remember an activity book I had for ben 10 alien force that said Ben had recently turned 18. We do not see him past 16

I've bought several of these for Pokemon over the years and every one was lousy with errors. Which is funny in retrospect with how boiler plate the info in them tend to be, as if they were copy pasted from bulbapedia.

Digimon Movie Agumon was pretty big, and Whamon went from a champion to an ultimate, and Gatomon looks like a rookie, but yeah, I don't think Shellmon has ever been depicted in a series where it was even remotely depicted as a rookie.
I thought there was two Whamon (Champion) And Whamon (Ultimate)
There are! Whamon from the shallower depths of File Island are Champion. Whamom from the deeper coast of Folder Continent are Ultimate and have surpassed them despite looking the same.

I saw this exact book in a Barnes and Noble that has since moved twice in 1999 and I still think about this 26 years later. I know how you feel op.

I have this book still sitting on my shelf downstairs with a bunch of more adult (as in I have all three Encyclopedia Eorzea, The WoW Diaries, etc) game media books (but also the Pathway to Adventure Pokemon book as well). The cover is so curled from me reading it constantly as a kid. Now I gotta go grab it and see what other bullshit they printed in it
