Not entirely fair. Isaiah calls himself a himedanshi and identifies himself as a “male-identifying reader.” I think it is understandably frustrating that his gender identity as a nonbinary yuri fan is not being discussed, but, in his own words, he does identify as a “male-identifying” yuri fan

If I identified myself as a “male yuri fan” in a piece about male yuri fans I would expect people to discuss me and my writing from the framework of calling myself a male yuri fan in a piece about male yuri fans
And, again, perhaps this is partly on Aftermath to help guide the writer on discussing gender in more detail. Which is why I stressed I believe Aftermath is not the best on topics of gender and sexuality
Also how on earth could we possibly be expected to know that? It doesn't come up in the article, it's not mentioned in the author byline, and it's not even mentioned on the author's own bsky profile description. Am I just supposed to magically know???
I think it’s strange that the piece stresses “I am a male-identifying yuri fan” while OP is basically telling trans women into yuri that they are being transphobic for drawing a pretty obvious conclusion one would have
Despite all that stress on being male identified and using an explicitly masculine term, I still actually checked! That's why I know it's not on the author's byline or bluesky account, I did my due diligence before posting about this lol. Is this claim even true?? It's just a third party making it!
I know Isaiah uses he/they pronouns and yesterday he posted about being nonbinary, but it wasn’t apparent to me immediately that he is nonbinary either
Not just going to his profile but reading back through their posts in case there's any mention of gender is a higher standard of research than what was applied to the article itself lmao
Again, 100% telling that no one on Aftermath editing these stories thought “it’s time for men to like lesbians” was an odd angle
Really can’t fault Isaiah when he’s done so much great work and he should have been caught and corrected by the team. Takes a village
The craziest part is reading this as a non-binary person who uses he/they pronouns. I think this person is getting "non-binary" and "agender" mixed up.
sometimes i really do feel like there's a subset of people out there who ID as enby solely so that when you refer to them with a gender binary pronoun they can pull the "oops looks like you misgendered me!" card and force you to apologize to them
