Houston Cougars get a career-performance from Chase McCarty to rally past Oklahoma State

Chase McCarty had 20 points and six 3-pointers off the bench, both career highs, as No. 7 Houston closed the regular season with an 82-75 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday.

UH (26-5, 14-4) will be the No. 2 seed at the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, Mo. With a top-four finish, the Cougars received a double bye to Thursday's quarterfinals.

McCarty delivered two key 3-pointers in the final 90 seconds of the first half as the Cougars wiped out most of an early 13-point lead.  The redshirt freshman forward answered with two more as the Cougars began to pull away with a 10-0 run.

After Oklahoma State closed within 74-73, Emanuel Sharp and McCarty put the game away with back-to-back 3s. 

The Cougars survived in a game that they were called for 16 fouls (compared to 11 for the Cowboys). Oklahoma State was 17-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Kingston Flemings added 13 points and nine assists for the Cougars. Flemings appeared to tweak his left ankle when he stepped on a defender's foot late in the second half. He remained in the game and drained a 3-pointer to give the Cougars a 63-62 lead.

UH has won 44 consecutive games against unranked opponents.

Joseph Tugler added 12 points and six rebounds and Milos Uzan had 11 points and five assists for UH.

Anthony Roy had 18 points for the Cowboys, who made seven 3-pointers in the first half when they built as much as a 13-point lead. The Cowboys made just three 3-pointers in the second half and shot 40.7% overall. 

Kanye Clary had 14 points for four 3s for the Cowboys.
