Infinitism is an epistemological belief that justification of a belief is infinite chain of reasons, and no claim is fully justified, because you need to define and justify ad infinitum to prove something.

Variants
[edit | edit source]
Moderate Infinitism
[edit | edit source]Moderate Infinitism argues that while justification ideally requires infinite reasons, finite agents can have "good enough" justification by providing sufficiently many reasons.
Probabilistic Infinitism
[edit | edit source]Probabilistic Infinitism asserts that justification emerges from an infinite series of probabilistic support relations (e.g., each reason slightly increases justification).
