Looks like they finally gave in. What was the story back then, roughly the same motivations?

The popular saying is that "Iran has been two weeks away from building a nuke for thirty odd years now".

There was also the militia on Israel’s border with an estimated 130,000 rockets and different munitions aimed at Israeli population centers more than capable of overwhelming AA defenses. Which Iran was funding with billions every year, even after the last June war.

If Hezb actually started with a powerful opening salvo, like they were capable of, instead of the dripping pis stream of rockets they went with, they could very much have killed thousands of Israelis and kidnap dozens or more. They were in a much much better position to do so than Hamas.

Of course Hezb then proceeded to do some of History’s finest shit-the-bed self-destruction streaks and made so many mistakes that they don’t really pose much of a threat now. Fun fact: Nasrahlah in Czech means “she shit herself”.

Then you truly arent aware of the situation on the ground. The IDF was way superior than that rag tag Lebanese gang of terror in every single way, and the rockets and missiles they had in store are just like Iran's own -mostly outdated and questionably maintained stuff. So realistically speaking, none expected them to actually be able to use up as much munition as the West would claim to be their stash anyway. Not to mention IDF force is several times larger than theirs, so to invade Israel instead of merely provoking it and diverting attention away from Hamas would be giving their enemy an obvious cause for invasion.

As for the kidnapping narrative... ever thought why when it's Israelis its prisoners of war and inevitable casualties, but when its Muslims and Palestinians, taking hostages and kinapping are always the way to go? Also Israel's enemies always magically delete themselves in the tens of thousands, women and children all. Who could possibly be behind all this?

I'd argue the permanent, most important justification is the fact it's a terror-state, with roots and attempts worldwide.

And unlike Afghanistan (🙏) or Irak (which unless I'm reading wrong is not doing horribly either) I don't think there's the conditions for a power vacuum in Iran, together with the massive popular support from iranians themselves to beat the regime.

I don't think there's the conditions for a power vacuum in Iran, together with the massive popular support from iranians themselves to beat the regime.

Is any of this actually true? Do most Iranians actually hate their government? I’m not asking if some that do exist, that’s certainly true and been reported on, but is there a critical mass of anti-regime Iranians to transition to a better government in concert with the US?

Additionally, I think the outcome that a dangerous power vacuum emerges is still on the table. Is that not what the bombing of local law enforcement and the arming of  minorities groups is supposed to accomplish? The US might not want Iran to break into warring states, but Israel would be perfectly fine if Iran becomes Syria.

The most effective propaganda is that which is true.

Americans should be scared that they are influenced by a foreign country all in the shadows. Remember kids, AIPAC is not legally allowed to represent Israel's interest in American politicians like they are currently doing. To do so they would have to register as a foreign country lobby and would be under much more scrutiny/transparency. AIPAC is illegal, and they're not doing that just in the USA. Convicing people (at least the French government) that anti-zionism=anti-semitism, that the Jewsih peoples=Israel. That's their master plan, also the most anti-semitic shit I've heard in these modern times.

If you look at propaganda and fully agree with it, it means you are not thinking critically. It doesn’t mean your opinion is wrong but it means you don’t separate your opinion from what is being pushed on you.

The reality was the opposite, suprisingly.
