Levi was once the servant of Death itself.
For years, he fulfilled his duties well, eliminating arcane threats to the world. Sadly, his final task held a terrible cost. Burdened by his actions, he retired to a life of solitude, wanting to live out the rest of his days in peace. But one day Death returns – not to reap his soul, but to offer a blessing. The chance to reincarnate into another world, one where no one knows his name.
Levi accepts. Though, he doesn't expect to awaken in the body of a failure: a disgraced noble son, disinherited as heir and on the verge of expulsion from the Institute of Ascension. It seems Death decided to leave some things out...
He's perfectly fine with that, though. Let the nobles sneer. Levi was gifted a whole new life, and this time, he intends to live it as an adventure. A younger sister who hates him? He'll just have to become the best older brother one can be. A prodigious Sword Saint who's forced to pair up with him for the Ascension Trials? He'll show her the relentless magic of an archmage. An impending cataclysmic threat to the world? Please. That's just another Tuesday. This world better prepare, because a new player just entered the field, and he's playing for keeps.
Now, if only he can figure out how to level up past level 14...

Unexpectedly good

I am not quite sure why I started reading this, the titel put me off a bit.
But it's actually a very captivating story with a very likeable main character.
It's an isekai (maybe - is it still isekai if the protagonist doesn't orginate in our world?), but a well thought out one. I actually do happen to think the premise is very fresh too.
I'll try to sum up the idea without spoilering too much, but if you are very sensitive to that you might want to stop reading the review here.
The thing is Levi is offered the chance to change universes and take over the body of a recently decased alternative version of him. One Levi Ironwood, whose soul has passed on but whose body is not too far gone that it can't be restored to full life again easily.
The reason he's offered that boon is that in his faithful service to Death, he's become quite the pariah and Death is trying to make it up to him. Of course there is a reason the orginal Levi Ironwood is gone so it's not THAT easy...
What I found impressive is that I could somewhat understand why the orignal Levi Ironwood lost all hope, yet had no trouble believing that the servant of death Levi could handle things. Not because he has an incredible cheat ability, but because he has faced horrible things and from that perspective Ironwoods problems seem rather small.
(That said, Levi does manage to keep his magic and his knowledge which gives him an edge over the original, but he's being punished with a pretty bad disadvantage that the original did not have either, so it doesn't feel as if he's completly overpowered. Okay - somewhat overpowered... tiny bit. But more a "use your head" story than a "mow down everything with overwhelming power" story)
Great stuff

Can't believe I've finally seen it...
This book has only eighteen chapters as of today, so I can't add many compelling arguments to read this story. Not yet, at least.
However, the thing that, in my own humble opinion, deserves a four star rating by itself, is the personality of the main character. He doesn't follow the standard protagonist template that I and many other readers are completely sick of by now. He's competent, somewhat non-chalant and most importantly: not a simp. Can't believe so many authors have to make the protagonist some loser who can't stop fantasizing about women's bodies.
This story doesn't do that, and the quality of writing is pretty decent. Pacing could use some work and the worldbuilding can definitely be improved upon, but I see the potential here.
I will add to this review if I happen to change my mind when I have more material to judge, but right now, I recommend people to read this.
It's great

It's still early but the chapters are long and well written the style is interesting and captures my attention, the clash between a non system user and system centered one is interesting. The characters feel alive and are well designed and with pragmatic and conflict droven mc it makes for quite a good read.
Not feeling it.

I started reading this because it sounded like an interesting concept. After reading the dialogue between our protagonist and death I can confidently say that this isn’t a novel I would enjoy. When dialogue takes up a lot of space on the page and isn’t really adding anything to the story I’ll just have to pass.
4/10
Fantastic novel, with excellent characterization

This is such a beautiful story. It is excellently written, has a very interesting magic system, and is overall fantastic. But if I had to pick one thing about it that is best, it would be the characters. They fell real, for lack of a better word. They are so amazingly fleshed out. They are characterized in such a way that I lack words for. I simply ask that you give it a shot, that is all.
Generally enjoyable, but has a few minor road bump

I would generally recommend this story, a lot of the things we have seen so far are pretty cool and interesting.
My main worry - and you might disagree - is that conflicts are going to be needlessly drawn out.
Chapter 12 is what has caused this. Until that point in time I was convinced that this was going to be a no worries sorta ride. Unfortunately the confrontation had zero stakes for me and for the protagonist, yet it felt like it went on for ages.
The protagonist doesn't care about any potential consequences, we as the reader are given none on why we should be worried about it, neither implicit nor explicit (which is good, because at this point they would feel artificial at best, most likely contrived). The reason why our main character is in this confrontation was also, both implied and stated, sort of redundant.
And I kinda hoped that the resolution of the conflict would be that the
That being said, this has been the only faux pas, and one that will hopefully not come up again.
It surprised me

The story is good and written well.
I have been on a story reading binge recently and when reading this story I found something was different from all the other stories I was reading.
After bringing to the latest chapters, still couldn't figure out what.
After moving on to another fic, it struck me.
It did not have AI generated text!
AI generated fictions usually have a flavour and pretty much all of them would sound the same. At various degrees. This was not.
And with recent influx of a lot such stories reading a new story which didn't have it or even it had been used that it was not very obvious to not be noticed is very impressive.
The authors style comes through and that makes it relatively unique in the current time of AI fics that RR currently feeds me.
Thank you!
This is fantastic

As the title suggests ....
Honestly a great start to a series. It's not like he's a OP max level guy showing off for noobs against noobs all the time. He fights opponents of his level.
The story is well made. The characters are well on the way to be fleshed out.
There is a little bit of damsel in distress going on but honestly I'll take it. It's that good
I knew this would get to rising stars

So far this is excellent! I've read all the chapters on Spacebattles, and this is going places. The grammar is great, the premise interesting, and the characters have more depth than you'd think. I'm looking forward to seeing where this is going.
Need a few more words... let's see... that oughta do it. Enjoy the story!
A lot of promise

Really enjoying this well written story and appreciate the references from other media. The MC is a bit insufferable at times but his backstory does explain it and there is plenty of time for growth. The author has laid the groundwork for a fantastic story, and hoping the author builds upon it. Maybe include some less high school drama tropes.
