An updated release of this early 90s midquel in the seminal Iczer OVA trilogy.
The R2J DVD had significantly higher video bitrate (9100 vs 5400 kbps) consequently containing sharper picture with more texture detail and was was used as the encode base for the first time.
Measuring known white-points, the DVD source exhibited varying and persistent chromacasts usually as a bias to orange and yellow, so episodes were individually reverse white-balanced to correct tinting (except for 02 which did not exhibit this issue). Additional light treatment to reduce or eliminate haloing, chroma noise, aliasing, and rainbowing were applied to the extent possible without harming detail or introducing artifacts. Grain-matching to compensate for macroblocking in darker regions was also employed. See comparison screenshots above.
The R1 Central Park Media DVD contained no English audio, therefore the English dub from the R2 UK Manga Entertainment DVDs (both 2ch & 6ch mixes) were taken and synced to the R2J video.
Interestingly the R2 UK DVDs contained no Japanese audio or subtitles, making this unofficially the only dual-audio release to date.
R1 CPM DVD subtitles were OCR’d with significant additional QC by me to correct the following:
