US Congress's approval rating is currently 27%. The Chinese government's approval rating is 95% (as measured by the Harvard Kennedy School). And yet the US attacks China for not being sufficiently democratic. Is it some kind of joke?

We're extremely sad to learn that Isabel Crook passed away this morning, at the age of 107. Born in Sichuan in 1915, Isabel's extraordinary life paralleled successive phases of the Chinese revolution, to which she has made an indelible contribution. Her powerful legacy lives on.

Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan is a gross violation of China's sovereignty and the One China principle that the US has claimed to uphold since 1972. Furthermore it is an affront to the dignity of the Chinese people and a dangerous escalation in Washington's New Cold War.

The Western powers tried and failed to discredit the Beijing Winter Olympics. In fact the Games were a runaway success, symbolizing peace, international friendship and solidarity. They were also the greenest Olympics in history and a model of Covid management.

What many in the West don't understand: socialism with Chinese characteristics is socialism, not any other 'ism.' The extent to which Chinese socialism has improved people's lives is historically unprecedented. It could not have been achieved under capitalism.
