They have been married 85 years!
Please join me wishing this young lady; my Aunt, Dr. Eleanor Rogers Gittens, HAPPY 107th BIRTHDAY. Doesn't look a day over 80
She is the oldest living of our Rogers clan, the oldest living member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc (Sigma Chapter - Clark Atlanta University) and a very special sweet soul. She was doing Zumba at 100 years old. She took a sabbatical to teach at a university in The Gambia.
Her husband Uncle Lyle will be 108 next month. He's a WWII combat veteran who severed in Europe with the 92nd Infantry Division (Colored). He's the oldest living member of Sigma Phi Alpha Fraternity and is in the Clark Atlanta University Basketball Hall of Fame. I’ve had him interviewed by a military historian.
They are personal friends of Mr and Mrs Denzel Washington for their work raising huge amounts of money for The United Negro College Fund.
They have been in my life since before birth! In 1951, my 17 year old pregnant mother was “sent away” from Bradenton, Florida to live with them in NYC and I came from the hospital in January 1952 to my first baby bed; a dresser drawer in their bedroom.
They both still are in the hunt to reach the age of our longest living relative who was 109!

This is just a beautiful love story within the generations to share..
I smiled when you mentioned your bed being a dresser drawer. My mom was born in 1941 and shared stories about how the drawer was padded for comfort. Riches doesn't make a home, it's the love

You're right, back then they put the babies in dresser drawers no cribs.
