Oh interesting, people who don’t know how to build software are getting mad at my post about building software. Cute.
Let me be clear, over the next year, the job of software engineer will shift dramatically to no longer have typing syntax into an editor as its primary time sink.

This ship has completely sailed, imho. The LLMs write better code, syntax-wise and documentation-wise, than any human I've ever worked with, and I've worked with some real good ones.
Why bother keep paying folks $125k+ then? Might as well reallocate that towards token utilization and cut the overhead cost of business altogether.
In case you aren't trolling and want a real answer: product design and technical architecture are worth more than $125k/year. Those are both the hardest and the most interesting questions.
yeah i just know what it's like to wake up and have hundreds of people piling onto a post with a ton of hate, so
Yeah, I think a few years ago it bothered me more, now I just kinda feel pity for these people. Your life must be pretty sad if you derive pleasure from yelling at people on the internet.

I'm ready for them, bring me a glorious death
I’ve just seen that post with 4k+ likes and the subsequent whinging. you should keep posting, i’m enjoying this lmao.
they’re all threatening to delete their accounts which would be such a favour
But Why, it's not perfect, so you're not allowed to enjoy it! Also, its imperfections will never go away because as we know, things never change, let alone improve! Thirdly, I am a very rational and educated person and my stance is that your life is now forfeit! etc. pp.
this already happened, it's just a question of how fast we catch up
Totally and completely change. Within the next few years we'll be teaching different things in schools. I hope the push to edge compute ramps up to distribute the energy burden, but I'm not sure if the pendulum is ready to swing yet. What a time.
Is there some way to see the quotes now that quoting as been disabled? I couldn't find a thingy to click.
People equating AI to security breaches don't understand the difference between AI assisted development and vibe coding.
“no longer have typing syntax into an editor”
Instead, you’ll be asked to read miles of machine-generated SQL. It’s a great career tho.
Mainly because I’m curious, what will be the major time sink for programmers and engineers in your opinion down the line? If say 99% of the code can be done by AI, what in your opinion is that 1% it can’t and how valuable/important? I’m genuinely curious as I’ve not done a lot of AI powered coding.
So far the consensus seems to be on two things. Deciding *what* to build, and figuring out how to design something *good.* So basically, coding is dead, programming is more alive than ever.
Yeah basically this, the taste component becomes the critical piece now.
The knowing exactly what to do next actually takes a lot of time
The workload shifts from slavish codemonkeying to understanding and applying principles of design. Which, ya know, terrible news if you loved writing code, but great news for everyone else, which is realistically most people.
