I noticed a lot of the aliens look very different between the different covers Is your cover what most of them are actually going to look like in the series or is it a mix (also they all look really good)
Yea. We were all working off two elements - individual art style ( that often includes which details to feature and which ones go unspecified) and earlier design ideas. They will fluctuate for a while as the series and covers come out. But, the basic “spirit” is definitely there.
So did you guys get to see concept art and character designs for the book before doing your variant art?
Some, but in comics a lot of that is constantly evolving. Very different than animation where everything is locked.
