EU E-wing >> Canon E-wing, right?!?
I picked up the new-ish TVC E-wing on sale. It’s a great looking ship! Despite its initial problems in-universe, the EU version seems to definitely out-spec the canon version by a lot. I think it would be tough to pick between the X-wing and E-wing if I was in the starfighter corps. But seeing them in Ahsoka was awesome.

Luke (whispering): “E-wings? Gee, thanks. Did you tell them I have never flown one before?”
Wedge: “I am sure a Jedi Master can figure it out. But I can get training thrusters added if you want Luke…”
I like how the Ahsoka E-Wing streamlined things. It looks good.
I actually like the Canon E-Wing over the original EU one, especially that it lacks the cannon blocking the cockpit, and the lack of a nose cap that makes it look less like an X-Wing or Z-95 knockoff and more like a new, modern design.
I wish they USED it better in the Nu Canon, it should be the de facto primary starfighter of the New Republic instead of just using the X-Wing for recognition value, but oh well, I like seeing it and I love the slight redesign.
My dream for a Canon New Republic Fleet is Nebula-class Star Destroyers releasing whole flights of E-Wings to dunk on Imperial Remnant ISDs held together with space-tape and hatred.
The E wing is made by the same manufacturer and was meant to be a more compact X wing, so the nose cap makes sense.
But yeah, how that thing never appeared in TFA is beyond me

Oh, absolutely! I have a four year old who’s just starting to get into nerd stuff. So far she likes Batman, He-Man, classic Star Trek, and Mario. I’m waiting til she’s a bit older to do Star Wars because I really want the plot twist in ESB to have an impact.
But as soon as she gets into it, she’s getting all my old 3.75 scale stuff and whatever newer stuff seems cool. I already have a Ghost up in the attic for her!
I only really have Imperial stuff on display as part of my own collection.
The Legends/eu E-wing never really got a chance to shine because authors preferred the X-Wing.
I feel like the Canon E-wing is an attempt to reimagine it as more of a post-war Peacekeeper vessel.
Always really liked the design, and making the general shape of it "less X-wing" was a great idea topped by taking the stupid laser off the cockpit.
It should indeed have been used as the core of the Republic's Starfighter fleet after Jedi, the Sequels just using the X-Wings again was beyond lazy.
I like it overall, but it really needs a cover for the astromech, the whole point is to protect it, and the third cannon is part of the ship's identity.
