One of my favorite series from the previous decade is getting some new streaming distribution with Mushishi the center of attention. The series has been brought to YouTube by Kodansha through their absolutely janky and awkward channel that feels like it’s bogus called “Anime Manga Official.” It’s been operating for quite a few years, but has been irregularly updated at best. The channel had some other shows previously, with some and various manga pieces still available. You can see how, about five years ago, they were trying to do something with it but kind of gave up in favor of general social media.
Check out the two ten-hour “full movie” streams below, depending on your language preferences. It’s available up to 1080p for video quality.
Originally airing in 2005, the series was directed by Hiroshi Nagahama who also handled the series composition for it. Based on the manga by Yuki Urushibara, Yoshihiko Umakoshi worked on the character designs with Artland handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Yuto Nakano as Ginko, Mika Doi as the narrator, and Yūji Ueda as Adashino-sensei.
The English dub was directed by Mike McFarland with Leah Clark assisting. The English cast was lead by Travis Willingham as Ginko.
Plot Concept: The Mushi Master Ginko travels from place to place to research Mushi—strange natural spirits—and aid people suffering from the problems caused by the enigmatic entities.
