Any German normal citizen should never have been blamed post WW2! The Camps were not extermination camps but as far as I can see they were conversion camps from Orthodox Judaism to Zionism. Those who choose to convert were send to Palestina, those others were stuck in the camps, which saw disease and lack of food supply as the war advanced and supplies became scarce, and by the end the Germans had to fall back.
