OEM unlock option greyed out

Hi. I need to unlock the bootloader. I got the unlock code from the Motorola website, but the "OEM unlocking" option is greyed out and can't be turned on. It also says "Connect to the internet or contact your carrier". I am definitely connected to the internet.

Please resolve. I bought the device for development and with locked bootloader it is useless to me.
Thanks.

Re:OEM unlock option greyed out

Thanks for reaching out, @Vlug1. Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the OEM unlock option. However, this option is grayed out on phones that have been recently purchased. To enable this option, the device may require an active internet connection, either wifi or mobile data, for a week. We hope you understand.

Re:OEM unlock option greyed out

I think this answer is misleading.

My Enable OEM unlock option was available and not greyed out. I've had this phone for 5 days. I didn't want to unlock but I went to try DSU package. After 1 single attempt at install, it just restarted my phone and did nothing.

Now the OEM u lock option is greyed out, says I must connect to the internet. I am connected as I'm here writing this.

But how can it be ones look phone must be older then a week or two to do this? That's nonsense.

Mine was not greyed out so I had the option. But as soon as I try a DSU package Motorola must have disabled it .

So much other stuff Motorola disables on Android, so much like multi window/ task split screen. I could have 6 split screen (2 apps on each task ) I could have more... Motorola nope only 1.

I could write super long sms and it would send as sms on every single android. Except Motorola.

Motorola seem to cripple their phones software... When I say cripple I mean fine tune their software for maximum "make customer angry and annoyed" effect.

Motorola g34 - guy that knows what he's doing and troubleshoots all options, and researches all possibilities many many many times before, --- asking for help

Posting here is the first step in my last resort. I can't wait untill my oppo gets replaced under warranty so I can throw this $300 5 day old phone in the rubbish

Hi @guest39603,

I’m really sorry to hear about your frustration. It sounds like you’re encountering difficulties with the OEM unlock option and Motorola's software limitations. I understand how upsetting it can be when things don’t work as expected, especially with a new phone.

If the OEM unlock option is greyed out, it requires a week of continuous internet access, either via Wi-Fi or mobile data, to enable this feature. Your patience is greatly appreciated. A stable internet connection is necessary to send data to the server and activate the option. Additionally, please ensure that the options under Motorola Privacy are turned on to access this feature within the week. Go to Settings > Privacy > Advanced > Motorola Privacy and turn on all the options there.

Re:OEM unlock option greyed out

Hey ,

Same , did they fix this for you ? i just got this and am in the return window. its useless to me without an unlocked bootloader. ive read elsewhere guys got this phone and its been a year and its still greyed out . did they fix this for you or am i sending it back

Re:OEM unlock option greyed out

What worked for me was to resubmit another request for an unlock code from the motorola site. Once I got the code back in my email, it triggered the OEM Unlock field for me. GOOD LUCK and unlocking worked like a charm.
