I finally did it.

r/AndrewDitch - I finally did it.

So I have shared my progress in moving on here before and everyone on here were super kind. I achieved something to the levels Andy could never because "he fakes". I have finally gotten MY own apartment! Not one my caregiver has her name on, my own! I have done the walkthroughs and signed my lease! Keys handed over and my first month's rent/damage deposit paid! I never thought I'd be able to say that I am a contributing member of society, took so many years and tests to see if I can handle being 100% independent rather than having my caregiver with basic needs like handling all interactions with the building management etc. I went from being in a 2 bedroom house with my caregiver to a basement suite to an apartment with a roommate and now all on my own! I can't wait to start over somewhere fresh and enjoying a quiet solitary life. Along with my gained independence I also for another year successfully filed my taxes, it is truely refreshing to achieve something that many people said I couldn't. Also face photo for proof I am not the pop squatch and just a lady with the tisim'.

Major props! I'm on the spectrum and moved into section 8 housing with my own apartment as well, and the independence makes so much difference in your confidence and quality of life. Lardass Andy will never be believed, because Autistic people are capable of great amounts of hard work and resilience, even more than a lot of neurotypical people.

I applied for our version of section 8 out here but I am still waiting to find out if I got through. For now this place is month to month but the number 1 thing to me is that it's mine, for the last 20 years I am thankful to have had a place under my caregivers name because I didn't have credit etc but now I am able to do it on my own with very minimal supervision which again I fought so damn hard for. I wish you all the best my neurospicy friend!!
