さまざまなコンテンツを開催！
国際ビーバーデーとは
毎年4月7日に、ビーバー研究の第一人者ドロシー・リチャーズ博士の誕生日を記念して制定されました。ビーバーの重要な役割を知り、自然環境の保全や生物多様性について考える日です。

Beavers are such creatures
Master dam builder
They build dams in rivers using branches and mud. Beavers are classified as a keystone species (species essential to maintaining an ecosystem), and by slowing the flow of water, they support the ecosystem of living creatures.
Flat tail
They are covered in scaly skin and are shaped like flat paddles, which they use to swim and balance in the water, as well as to slap themselves on the water to warn their family of danger or frighten predators.
Distinctive teeth
Their large front teeth are orange and very strong. They build dams and nests by gnawing down trees. Their large front teeth continue to grow throughout their lives, so they stay sharp and can continue gnawing efficiently.
nocturnal
They tend to be relatively quiet during the day and become active in the afternoon, a behavioral pattern that is thought to have evolved to protect them from predators that are active in the bright light of day.
