Oh, yes. Goblins can and have survived. A few have fought off the tadpoles; albeit mentally damaged, but most fall under the tadpole's sway and transform into an illithid. In such cases, a short illithid, unless it becomes rail-thin to achieve "normal" height. #Realmslore
