Not64 controller support
I have a mayflash N64 controller adapter. Can I use this and an original N64 controller to play 64 games through Not64? I’ve got NES, SNES, and GC controllers working with all their respective games on my Wii. I prefer to use the correct controller for each system/game. Only system I’m having issues with is Not64. I’m having controller issues, and some games don’t load properly and are literally unplayable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
There are two emulators used for n64 emulation on Wii. Each is better at different games. N64 emulation is really tricky because the cartridges contain custom code for graphics. This is not an issue of power, but of blind compatibility/architecture. Faking it requires even more power than the original console, like 2x 4x or 8x the power, then we can see it rendering improperly but still smoothly enough to play.
Just wanted to summarize that issue here… I’m waiting for the raphnet adapter to restock to test my own setup. So I can only speculate about this mayflash setup.
If the n64 controller can work like this, it won’t have native support. If it works, think of it like a Wii classic controller. There would be no support for any n64 controller accessories with this route if I’m correct. I hope I’m wrong.
The Wii U will perform even better at this. But some n64 games do work fine on the Wii. You can find a compatibility list to help you test. The Xbox Series S/X can run n64 games well from what I’ve read - I only ever tested the PS2 emulator on my X, which was great on everything but Shadow of the Colossus.
With the specific nature of these n64 cartridges, the best option I’ve found is running through original n64 hardware with an everdrive 64 cartridge.
Not64 is a bad choice to emulate on Wii (not that Nintendo's VC is any better) You are better off playing a Emulator on your phone (Muppen64++) or PC (Project64)
It seems pretty terrible. All others work great with no issues. Bummer I can’t get 64 working. I have NES, SNES, GC, Wii, and Wii U. I’ve also got my switch, and mini NES and mini SNES hooked up too. 64 would have rounded out my options perfectly
Some games work Fine. But with massive stutters or graphical glitches (Used it back in 2015-2016 and resent) doesn't seem to improved.
Your options for N64:
