This is why any kind of decentralized and federated "social media" (or really any federated service) is a dead end. If the federation is not taken too seriously and is treated as just a convenient add-on, then IMO it's not a big stain on Lemmy per se.

I'd even say the opposite: mass defederation could be good publicity, especially if it's blamed on those mystical invisible hitler particles 🫠

In fact, I think that a R*ddit/forum-like format is inherently not as well-suited for federation as a "micro blogging" format like Mastodon.

I was thinking, and "bigotry" is one of the most interesting newspeak buzzwords. Bigotry means being closed-minded and intolerant of other views, yet, the people using that word all the time are the actual bigots, since they use the word as a meaningless buzzword to dismiss views they disagree with.

It's far from the only word that got subverted by wokies (or any other group), but this particular one is deeply ironic.
