State Of The Realm: January

Thus begins 2026, and the Year Of Troj- err, The Horse! Whilst I’ve been quiet over the festive period, that is not the same thing as being (entirely) idle. So let’s have a look at everything that has been happening, and is about to happen.
STORY
Our new year’s resolution is “finish the main plotline; no seriously; do it”. Over the last few months I’ve been working with lead editor DoItToJulia and our new project manager Midnight Iris to slave our entire writing capacity to that end. Previously, Mattrex and I would work through the main plotline sequentially, while DoItToJulia’s writing team worked with us on the remainder - but that was vulnerable to sudden incapacity and logjams, as we’ve seen.
I’ve been working with both to get the main plotline outlined in advance, parcelled, and absolutely everyone on it - which means we can write the whole thing simultaneously. We’ve pulled in old hands and recruited new talent for the task, including John Drake. Thus far, this approach has yielded extremely good results, and we expect to be moving that waterline up very quickly over the next few months.
ART
This is another area of focus – we want to get all of our art up to a common, final standard, in time for our main release. To that end, we’ve moved our splash artist Undoodle over from Permission To Dock to focus exclusively on new pieces for Ravager, and we’re inviting back Sintax Error to help with the remainder of our character art. For our scene art, we’re bringing in three(!) artists to do a turbo enhancement sweep on our older pieces - including Sommelier, who you may already be familiar with from their work on Seeds Of Chaos.
But that’s not all! I’m working with HereToHelp to get all of our sprites properly scaled and aligned, and with Amon Ra on getting the newest ones animated. He’s begun breathing movement into our new-look “messy” sprites, and what I’ve seen so far looks amazing.
SOUND
Our musician Exo Spectra has already done a fabulous job with our soundtrack – and now he’s turning his attention to the rest of Ravager’s soundscape, going through scene by scene and adding environmental and action foley. The last update saw that applied to the start of Act I, and lots more is to come. And there will be enhancements to our music, too, as he finds places for alternate themes and variations.
Voice acting has been part of Ravager’s signature from the very first build, and that’s another area I’m paying a lot of attention to. We’ve brought in fresh cutters and engineers to help with our backlog of raw recordings, and I’ve been running between our cast of voice talent to get them back into the recording booths. Where a character isn’t yet cast, or the old voice talent is no longer available, I’ve been finding new faces – most notably, Fenrah Alesari will be taking over for our darling serpentine daughter.
TRANSLATION
The unreasonably vast size of Ravager – about 1.3 million words, which is more than twice the length of Lord Of The Rings – makes translation efforts difficult. I’ve brought in Majaeste to help Soulphase coordinate our fan localisation teams, and to support new translators. If you’re bilingual, and would like to assist their efforts (in exchange for shiny benefits), please let us know in our Discord server.

And that’s (much of) what we’ve been up to! Given the nature of the internet, I expect some of you will be concerned that we are overworking ourselves – and others convinced that we are doing nowhere near enough. The truth of the matter is that we are doing as much as we sustainably can, in the smartest manner we can come up with. The end is in sight. And we’re getting there, soon.

Dev Notes
  • The first phase of the Chapter Two conclusion is here! This one is for people with a naga daughter, or an empowered lair faction, in one of their playthroughs. If you don’t have either of those, you might want to wait for our next installment. But there’s a bunch of other cool stuff in this update, so maybe it’s a good time to start a new playthrough?
  • To celebrate, we are also 25% off on Steam. Pick up your permanent copy now, while you have the chance!
  • Our basic tier on SubscribeStar is now free! Join us if you’d like access to our VA streams, funky Discord perks, and a backup way to stay in touch.

Back in July, I talked about our ambition to collaborate on short-form projects with other talented creators. That ambition has now borne fruit, and I am excited to announce our first collaborative project will be with Cumkeys.
You are a wolf, of uncanny size and intellect. Three brave heroines have rescued you from rubble, and adopted you as their party mascot.
But this isn't the tale you think it is. In the aftermath of their adventures, the three women perform their appointed parts… and their heroic façades crack like old paint, revealing something monstrous beneath. You'll witness every argument, every desperate coupling, every draught of numbing intoxication. You can see everything. You can say nothing.
Will you save them? Will they even want to be saved?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3989290/The_Party_Mascot/

Evangeline, the Counterfeit Knight

"Standing seven feet tall in blessed steel, Lady Evangeline brings righteous fury to the wicked! Born of distant noble blood, and trained in ancient sword-forms, she is the very pinnacle of her exotic tradition. They say she could have lived in comfort, but chose instead the wanderer's path. Truly, her nobility of spirit matches her nobility of birth!"
Evangeline is escalating the challenges the party has to face, from goblins to ogres to dragons – chasing a glory that could eclipse the rotten truth she conceals. She drinks long into the night… and in those private hours, she practices her confessions on you. Only then does she speak with her real voice, and slur out grim tales of her past.

Morsūl, the Sensation Witch

"The mysterious Morsūl has walked every path of magic, and emerged with wisdom beyond mortal ken! Her ways may seem strange to us common folk – but how are we to know the mind of one so close to the truth of ages? She shares her vast knowledge with her companions, and guides them through dangers that only her ancient eyes can perceive!"
Morsūl maneuvers people and objects according to a logic that only she comprehends – tasting emotions, cataloguing screams, delectating on dynamics. She needs something, something new, something interesting at all times. And your interruption to the stale party dynamic is tantalisingly rich in possibilities.

Fortuna, the Cursed Catgirl

"Blessed by the gods themselves! This beast-blooded savant dances through danger as though the very fates guide her paws. Where others would fall to traps, she finds safe passage. Where others see certain doom, she spots the one path to victory. Her innocent charm belies her uncanny gift – and fortune smiles upon any party wise enough to welcome her!"
Where once Fortuna moved with feline certainty, now she second-guesses every step. She has started ‘accidentally’ triggering traps that she already detected. The party thinks she's becoming clumsier – but in reality, something far darker is emerging.

…And You

You, alone, exist outside of their toxic codependency. You're the one piece that doesn't fit their pattern of mutual destruction. But whether that makes you their salvation, or just another catalyst for their dissolution, remains to be seen.
The Party Mascot is a choice-based visual novel, scripted by 4MinuteStudio, and fully animated in stunning 3D by Cumkeys.

Wait, Fully Animated?

Yes! Cumkeys has been a successful 3D animator for years, and he is ready to do something really special. Think of it like an interactive movie.

Is This Content Okay For Steam?

The basic Steam build does not contain any content that breaks their new policies. A separate “Bad Dog” patch will be made available for free.

When Will It Be Released?

We expect The Party Mascot to be released sometime in 2026, after Ravager’s main plotline is completed.

Will This Delay Work On Ravager?

It will not. The Party Mascot is a shorter and more visual game, and our script support is a small fraction of our overall output. Also, a little variety makes creatives work better.

Where Can I Follow Development?

Previews and test builds will be posted on Cumkeys’s SubscribeStar page. Follow him if you’d like to get the first look at what’s going on. You should also wishlist it on Steam!

State Of The Realm: September

Hi dragon fans! The last time I had the chance to talk was back in July - unknowingly mere days before the crackdown started. Between that, the art overhaul, and work progressing the story, I haven’t had the chance to respond to all your lovely (or kindly critical) comments - sorry! But I have a lungful of air now, so I’ll take the opportunity to get you up to speed.

Main Plotline
This has been our main priority, and Mattrex and I have been working together on it. Our branching narrative means that it’s more work than you’ll see in any given playthrough (and needs to accommodate all playthroughs), but that’s the chalice we’ve chosen to sup from. I’m going to talk about its scope, so skip this section if you want to avoid very minor spoilers about what to expect.
The end of Chapter Two has three sequential phases:
  • First is the special ‘crisis’ session of court, which will tackle the most important thing happening in your particular Realm. A Cataclysm is obviously top of the list, but failing that, lair factions (friendly or otherwise) get some proper screentime.
  • Second is the ‘reconquest’ mechanic. If you have become estranged with one of your mortal hordes, this will be a chance to deal with them in a more conclusive (and cathartic) way. Other territories that were overlooked during your initial conquest can also be mopped up at this point.
  • Third is bedtime! As with Chapter One, you deserve a little private time with your fiancee of choice. Or, if you’ve elected to remain a bachelor, whichever poor maid happens to be closest at hand.

After discussing with the team, I have decided to break from tradition - we will release each phase as it is ready, rather than waiting to dump it all at once. Our changelogs will tell you exactly what is delivered and when. This will stop you from waiting, aid us in testing, and allow us to avoid most/all of the logic pitfalls that typify a major update.
This means that we will release the first phase in the next update! Woo! Depending on how the last steps go, our next update will arrive either at the end of this month or sometime in the next one. Wish us luck.

Art Direction
We’re not sitting on our laurels after the recent overhaul. Lubbio will continue drawing our new scenes and critical remasters, now with more focused support from me, and I am also getting some help from Sintax on bringing old pieces up to a final standard. Undoodle has been moved over from her work on Permission To Dock to make more splash art for us, and Amon Ra is back on creating new animated scenes.

Collaboration
Back in the innocent days before the entire adult game landscape was set on fire, I reached out to other creators about future collaborations. I am excited to say that this has borne fruit! Though I can’t say too much right now, we will be working with a very talented person on the creation of a small but perfectly-formed little game. It’s early days yet, but you can look forward to the announcement sometime in the next few weeks.

That’s it from me - I’m headed back to the story mines. Thank you all for your support during this very tricky time; I look forward to proving your faith justified.

The Future Of Development

I should have asked Amon Ra to prettify my roadmap for me, but the important stuff is here.
Greetings from my increasingly-tropical island! I'm pleased to report that Malagar’s crystal stash continues to work its particular magic. There is a mountain of things to catch up on, but I’m in the process of doing exactly that. And one of those things is to have this conversation with you.

The Monkey’s Paw
When I started Ravager’s development, the technological landscape looked rather different. Even when we arrived on Steam, AI was still mostly the province of science fiction. Now? Now it is impossible to look away from.
It is a contentious topic - righteously and deservedly so. The default position for developers is to stay artfully quiet, and hope the whole thing blows over. But we're not a soulless corporation - we're a small gang of enthusiasts, who've carved out a niche making horny games about dragons. I think you should speak openly and plainly about what you believe, whenever you can. And I can, so I will.
I believe that AI can be a great assistive tool when paired with human talent. It can help break through creative blocks, speed up tedious processes, and open doors for people who might otherwise struggle to realise their visions. That's the optimistic view, and I think there's truth in it.
But let's not kid ourselves. AI is also being used to exploit and exclude human talent. It is drastically lowering the barriers to entry for game development, which sounds great (it is), until you realise we're heading for a kind of slopocalypse: a tsunami of cheaply produced mediocrity, poised to flood every platform. I suspect Steam's algorithms will shield you from the worst of its effects! But as creators, we need to plan for this impending reality.

Our Stance
Ravager will continue to celebrate organic writing, art, voices, and code.
I have no issue with a writer consulting AI for advice on a tricky plot point, or an artist using it to brainstorm potential compositions. That is clever tool use, and does not beggar anyone. But the content that actually features in our games will remain human-crafted.
In line with this commitment, I'll be removing the placeholder machine translations from Ravager. If someone wants to mod them back in, that’s fine - but our support will focus on the excellent fanmade localisations that our community is in the process of creating.
This policy will also extend to our next project, Permission To Dock. It uses some genuinely exciting new techniques and technologies that showcase exactly what coordinated human creativity can achieve. Permission To Dock is being prototyped as we speak, and I look forward to showing you what I mean once Ravager has reached its main release.

The Road To Victory
‘Reaching main release’ is possibly the best mitigation against the coming slopocalypse - so that remains our primary and overriding priority. Health issues have slowed us down in the first half of this year (most especially mine!), but now we've regathered our momentum, and we’re working smarter than ever. And to avoid those agonising waits between major updates, we're portioning things up more sensibly:
  • Version 5.3: The conclusion of Chapter Two
  • Version 5.4: The beginning of Chapter Three
  • Version 5.5: The conclusion of Chapter Three - and our full release!
We will continue with our monthly updates throughout - and if we hit any further blockers, we’ll slice up our to-dos around them. Bonus endings and character epilogues will arrive after 5.5 as a free update (because you all deserve it), while any further expansions will follow as DLC.

Horde Morale
Another defence against mediocrity is consolidating excellence. As talent gets shaken up by the twisting landscape, I want to link arms with them. We are looking for short collaborations with established creators of all kinds - developers from around the world, artists and animators who haven't touched games yet, writers with fresh perspectives, you name it. We’ll pair them with our resources, our audience, and our perverse sense of mission, and we’ll see what magic emerges.
If you're one such established creator, and this sounds like your cup of tea, drop me a line on Discord!

Keeping One Eye Open
All that having been said, it would be folly to tie ourselves completely to one approach when the world is shifting so rapidly beneath our feet. So I'm keeping an open mind about allowing some short-form experiments in future, where team members could create small projects with the assistance of AI.
If successful, such experiments could give voice to game ideas that would otherwise never see daylight, as well as help fund our main projects. However - and this is crucial - we will never use our team's contributions to train AI without their consent, and we forbid others from doing so. If a teammember’s artistic DNA ends up in a project then they'll be properly compensated, by prior agreement on their terms.
I know this position won't please everyone. Some will think we're being too permissive, others that we're being too restrictive. But I believe it is fair, it is right, and it positions us to navigate the coming storms whilst holding fast to what matters most.

Back to Work
That's quite enough pontificating from me. Time to get my head out of the clouds, and back down into the code where it belongs. Look forward to a bumper-sized update towards the end of this month - we've got a proper feast prepared for you!
All the best,

State Of The Realm: May

Hi hi, dragon fans! It's been a while since my last State Of The Realm post - too long, in fact. I’ve been dwelling in a big bank of brain-fog since the start of the year, and trying to figure out exactly why that might be (overwork? seasonal depression? burnout? pituitary nonsense?). Turns out I have ADHD! And have had it forever, but nurturing Ravager as it grows has suddenly made it a problem.

The good news is that ADHD is typically very responsive to medication, which I am commencing imminently. I’m not saying that a taste of Malagar’s infernal crystal stash will transform me into a productivity wyrm overnight - but I’m not saying it won’t do that. Just in case, I’ve brought Midnight on board as a transitional project manager, and Nyah in a more persistent capacity as my glamorous assistant.

The merit of being a whole-team production is that progress still gets made, even when the executive layer is dysfunctioning. So there’s lots to look forward to for you all! Amon Ra has just completed an impressive roster of new animated scenes, DoItToJulia and her writing squad are busily fleshing out the game with oft-requested content, Sintax Error is providing our waifus with some facial beauty treatments, HereToHelp is continuing to prettify our UI and brief our artists, Irrelevant is working on some little treasures for Steam’s point shop, and Mattrex is continuing to chip away at the next main plotline development.

We’ll keep up our monthly updates, big or small, while I am getting myself back to full capacity. But hopefully we’ll see fewer of the ‘small’, and much more of the ‘big’. Thank you for your patience - I look forward to seeing it well rewarded. Time to sharpen those claws!

State Of The Realm: January

A new year dawns! The team has scraped the ice off of our smut-engines, and we’re right back into full production once again. This year is going to be the toughest one for us, creatively and financially, as we bring Ravager towards its glorious conclusion and lay the groundwork for what comes after. But we do like a challenge.
Our lead writer Mattrex and I will be focusing on the ‘main plotline’. First we’ll finish up Chapter Two: an expanded kobold hatchery, herald interactions, the war council, reconquest mechanics, updated horde visits, the final court event, and another snuggly sleeptime. I’ll aim to have some progress on this track in each monthly update, big or small, until it is done. Then we’re going to begin work on our final segment, Act V Chapter Three.
Meanwhile, the rest of our writing team under DoItToJulia will be fleshing out our content with new waifu content. I think it’s important to build ‘wide’ as well as ‘tall’, and Julia’s team will be providing a satisfying girthiness to our work. You can look forward to more crossovers, more personal flavour, and more exotic things to do with your waifus.
HereToHelp, who just finished the rebuild of our graphics system, is continuing his quest to make Ravager available to as many people as possible. The first version of this will be a ‘streamer mode’, which makes Ravager compatible with the onerous demands of different platforms. The second version of this will be Ravager: Moon-Friendly Edition, which will be of interest to players in more censorious localities. That effort goes hand in hand with our localisation team under Soulphase, who will be pushing hard to improve our support for other languages.
Our art team will be busy making illustrations for all our new content, as well as giving our more dated assets a good scrub. Ravager has been in production for five years, and our artists have developed their prowess and style over that span - so let’s make sure that this is reflected in the final cut.
Undoodle, who illustrated our beautiful splash art, has joined us as a visual lead for our next project, codenamed P2D. She’s been doing a lot of pre-production work, which I’ll be able to share with you soon. If you love Ravager, but crave a more unified art style, you’ll be very pleased with our approach for P2D. A full announcement will go up after our next update.
And of course there are the countless heroes who make this all possible: codesetters, playtesters, voice talent, sound engineers, translators, and many more. They’re all gonna keep the engines turning as we race towards our destination.
It has been observed that I’m a little dry with communication, and that’s something I want to fix (for people who like getting lots of updates). So I’m now active on X and Bluesky, and I will aim to use them to share a little tidbit of what we’re working on each week. So follow me if you like the sound of that.
And for everyone else: I wish you a glorious Year Of The Snake! Shé nián kuàilè!

State Of The Realm: July

Greetings from the smut-forge! It’s looking fairly good over here – all the fires have been put out, and our kobolds are (very) hard at work. I’m not going to linger overlong on the calamitous month of May, besides to tell you that all of our problems have now been sorted and that I’m still very grateful for all the support that you’ve shown us.
We were able to get a reasonably chonky build out last month, which I am proud of, but it has also impressed upon me the need to focus. You might be experiencing a bit of ‘update fatigue’ while waiting for Chapter Two, which I think is reasonable. For that reason, I have decided that our next update will be Chapter Two. We will halt our monthly update cycle to free up all of our resources, and fully commit them to the task at hand.
And gosh, what a task! A novella’s worth of court events, new interactions and scenes and costumes for our harem, and new developments amidst the various powers that brought you to the throne. And new offspring! Our lead writer Mattrex has been drafting this monster of an update since last year, and Irrelevant Art has been spending that time getting all our art assets ready. The principal bottleneck has been my own availability, which will now be laser-focused upon getting everything finaled and tested and ready for your enjoyment.
That means this is likely the last you’ll hear from me for a little while. I’ll return, triumphant, when we’re ready to finally turn that page. Until then, I hope you enjoy exploring what we’ve already created – there’ll be a lot more of it, soon.

The H-Dev's Curse

People frequently speak, in various shades of suspicion and superstition, of the H-dev’s curse - the tendency for developers in our space to fall afoul of variously awful and improbable fates. I think the most compelling explanation is that crises sometimes befall all of us; it is only when you have a large project that anyone else notices you’re taken out of commission for a while.
Working as a team provides a healthy buffer against that. The Ravager crew have individually sustained various slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune over the years, and our peers have picked up the slack until normality reigns again. But lady luck is fickle, and there is always a chance that she hits the core team with six unrelated crises in one month. It has not been a kind month.
It would be possible to pull out all the stops, chug all the coffee, and do our damnedest to pretend that nothing has happened – but that kind of crunch would mean making sacrifices on quality, as well as degrading our ability to continue work past the release of Chapter Two. Neither of those are acceptable to me, so instead I’m here doing the thing I never want to do, asking for your patience.
There will be no update this month; there has been plenty of progress on many fronts, but it isn’t ready for primetime just yet. That also means that Chapter Two won’t arrive to meet my original goal of “first half of 2024”, which is on me. As soon as the remaining fires are stamped out and I have a good sense of our new momentum, I’ll get you a revised goal that I can be firmly confident in.
Thank you for all of your support thus far and, I hope, your understanding. I’ll be in the comments if anyone has questions for me.

Whether you want to chill to Marina Montague’s soothing dragonsong, groove to Exo Spectra’s dark electronic arrangements, enjoy Emery Aylar’s delicate piano work, or spiral into infinity with Maya Fae’s guest track for Malice, the Ravager Soundtrack has you covered. All of our musicians and singers did a great job creating the soundscape for the game, and it’s a pleasure to share it with you all.
Exo Spectra will be hosting a special livejam on our Discord server at 14:00 UTC on Sunday to celebrate the album launch, and I hope you can join us then.

I was recently contacted by Annie from SPG - she wanted to record a podcast about monstrous love, and was looking for a guest speaker for the episode.

Naturally, I caved into the temptation! So if you would like to listen to me nerd out with her about Greek mythology, Jungian psychology, and a whole bunch of monster lovin' games, you can do so here:

State Of The Realm: April

I’m back! It’s been a difficult couple of months for me; Corona-chan hit me particularly hard this time around. Fortunately, we have an excellent team, and they have kept everything in motion in my absence (and while I’ve been catching back up) - something I am extremely grateful for.
Now that things are back to normal, let’s have a look at what’s coming up. The first piece of news is that we have our soundtrack coming out this month! This has been requested for ages and I’m very glad to finally get it sorted. You’ll finally be able to chill out to Marina Montague’s beautiful voice, or bop to Exo Spectra’s insane beats. We have a launch party planned for the 28th April on our Discord server, if you’d like to come along and listen to them jam together live for the first time.
You might have noticed that our lead writer Mattrex has been very quiet this year. That’s because he’s been working on Act V Chapter Two, which is now starting to be fed into the vast editing/coding/playtesting machine. It’s already an easy hundred thousand words long, and will get bigger still before we’re done. Despite my virological woes, I still very much want to get Chapter Two out this summer, and I will be prioritising that work going forward.
Which is not to say you won’t have anything to enjoy in the months between! Our lead editor DoItToJulia and her team are busy filling out the remaining pieces of Act V Chapter One - Balthorne, Eburon, Mother, and Zizeryx. Our scene artist Lubbio is remastering his oldest work, to bring it up to his impeccable modern standard. Our sound squad under HereToHelp is working on a fresh mountain of voice acting. And Exo Spectra is working on even more new music!
So thank you, all those who support the game. With your help we’ve been able to build a little studio that’s able to leap forward in many directions at once, even when I’m out of the picture. And that’s humbling, in a really nice way.

State Of The Realm: February

Midwinter is always the most cursed period of development - a constant onslaught of plagues, family commitments, and other terrible woes. This year, we’ve been able to keep the smut-engines running (at a slightly slower pace) throughout. Now the ice is thawing, spring is around the corner, and we’re revving up for the most pivotal year in our journey.
First amongst our priorities is Chapter Two of Act V, which I know everyone is excited about, and which will release in June. This means a fresh roster of court events, which our lead writer Mattrex has been working on for the last few months. It also means we need to add the last interactions for Chapter One, and start populating new content for all your lovely waifus - a large team effort, expertly enabled by our lead editor DoItToJulia.
Once we have that foundation laid we will continue to populate it with more content, in much the same way we did (and are doing) with Chapter One. Our sound team under HereToHelp have stepped up their production considerably, and you can look forward to a lot more voice acting, sound effects, and new music in the months to come.
But Chapter Two is not the end of our main plotline! We will be gathering together all of our narrative threads, and allowing you to find the ending that best fits your dragon (and his harem), in Chapter Three. That’s all planned out, and ready to commence development as soon as we have Chapter Two in hand. It’s going to be a very busy year.
Before I get back to work, I ought to mention that it’s Ravager’s birthday next month - the anniversary of my very first (and very humble) build. If you would like to celebrate, come join us over on our Discord server on 23rd March. There will be appearances from our voice talent, AMAs with the crew, party games, and all sorts of frivolity. All are welcome, and I hope to see you there.

For those of you who celebrate lunar new year, this might be the most exciting time in the calendar. And it can't have escaped your notice that we are welcoming in the Year Of The Dragon. I'm not usually one for festive art - however, this kind of opportunity does not come around often (or, indeed, ever will again). So here's a little bonus pic from Undoodle!

It is not traditional to mark the lunar new year with resolutions, but this is certainly an auspicious occurrence. It is my hope that we will have the main plotline of Ravager completed within this lunar year. And with the talent and support we've gathered along the path so far, I think we'll do exactly that. Lóng nián dàjí!

2024 H-Game Recommendations

Now and then, I get asked which other H-games people might enjoy. My last post has been very popular, but it's a couple of years out of date! And things move faster than ever in our little corner of dev-space.

These aren't cross-promotions - these are just games that I thought were neat, and you might like too. I've put them into sections based on what they share most in common with Ravager, to help you find your favourite thing. So, without further ado:

Abuse Of Power
  • Elven Conquest: A simple, focused game that knows what exactly what it's doing and achieves it.
  • The Imperial Gatekeeper: is it a lewd Papers, Please? It is! I'm a big fan of how it ties story, progression, and characterisation into a very tight gameplay loop.
  • Monster Girl Club Bifrost: Train monstergirls and hustle 'em out in this tightly conceived and produced eastern H-game.
  • Friends In Need (new): After becoming fabulously rich, who do you help? And what strings do you attach? Very choice-and-consequence based, and probably the closest non-draconic cousin of Ravager

Character Focus
  • The Last Sovereign: If it's characterisation and worldbuilding that keep you hooked on Ravager, you'll almost certainly enjoy Sierra's fantasy epic.
  • Price For Freedom: Avarice: A fantasy RPG saga with a gorgeously-written - and equally gorgeously drawn and animated - cast to enjoy.
  • Imuoto Life Fantasy (new): A surprisingly heartfelt trainer-type game about keeping the local adventurer's guild alive while you look after your poorly sister. And 'look after' her, too.

Corruption Arcs
  • The Headmaster: A slow-burn corruption saga that exudes confidence and passion for its source material. And has a very smooth player experience, which counts for a lot.
  • Karryn's Prison: A masterpiece of game design that twines gameplay, mechanics and themes tightly together in an ever-evolving experience.
  • Star Channel 34: Akabur's latest is the last completion in a long line of great games. Akabur has a fantastic palate for corruption and humiliation, and inspired me to get involved in H-dev in the first place.
  • Yamizome Revenger (new): Befriend your schoolmates by day! Learn their psychological damage! Use their neuroses to destroy them when they turn into magical girls at night!
  • Hero Party Must Fall (new): A netori masterpiece in which you must seduce the hero's waifus away from his influence. Very nicely written.

Pretty Animation
  • Behind The Dune: One of two great reboots of the franchise lately; this one with just a huge amount of fucking.
  • Dohna Dohna: A high-budget eastern production with excellent gameplay and absolutely stunning visuals.
  • Third Crisis: A superheroine is introduced, via hypnosis, to the wonderful word of depravity. Lots and lots of depravity.
  • Take Me To The Dungeon!! (new): A somewhat-spicy romance story, attached to a surprisingly good deck-based battler.
  • The Fairy Tale Of Holy Knight Ricca (new): Our heroine is going to save the world, but is going to suffer a lot (in many different ways) along the way.

Villainous Protagonist
  • Goons Raid Her: Take control of a certain famous tomb raider and bend her to your desired ends - whatever those might be. Very smartly designed indeed.
  • Vae Victis: Conquer, seduce, and plunder your way across the world. With some very nicely written scenes, I'd say.
  • The Villain Simulator: A VR-enabled game where you can torment superheroines. And shoot nerf darts at their butts, which is worth the price of admission alone.

Weird Kinky Sex
  • Anomaly Vault: You'll have the chance to manage a lewd SCP in this grab-bag of exotic and very entertaining scenarios from an accomplished writer.
  • Champion Of Venus: An instantly charming premise, lots of wild ideas, and some genuinely delightful dialogue.
  • A Silent Statue (new): I adore games that take a weird premise or kink and go absolutely 100% for them. A very lovingly made little wonder.
  • ATM Adventures (new): Snubblr's imagination is a force to be reckoned with. A rocket-powered dive into the depths of depravity, calling at all stops except the vagoo.

There are, of course, plenty more excellent H-games out there that I haven't yet had the chance to enjoy - making Ravager is rather demanding on my time! But perhaps this gives you a few places to start, and some extra things to enjoy while Chapter Two is in development.

State Of The Realm: December

Last month we were dropped by the only remaining payment processor for Itch, meaning that we could no longer make (or benefit from) sales there. This was a pretty awful turn of events, but not disastrous - the whole team pulled together to offer lots of new benefits in the Great Subscription Drive, and a whole lot of you added or boosted your contributions. This has been a huge reassurance in a time of financial terror, and I would like to thank you all very sincerely for your kindness. Thank you.

If you haven’t had the chance yet, the Great Subscription Drive continues through to Sunday 17th December, so it’s not too late to get yourself a custom welcome note from Nyono.

In development news, we continue to power onward: our lead editor DoItToJulia is masterminding the completion of the last elements of Chapter One (including Balthorne, Eburon, Mother and Zizeryx), while our lead writer Mattrex is leading the charge into Chapter Two. We plan to release Chapter Two in the first half of 2024, as soon as it is ready. This is an adventurous timeline to pursue - there’s an awful lot to write and draw - but we have our foundations in place, and we are very serious about finishing what we have started.

Monthly updates will continue in the interim, as always. Our next one will arrive in the first weekend of 2024, after a brief shutdown across the festival period. These might be a little more media-focused for a while, as our writers’ attention is focused on preparations for Chapter Two, but our artists and voice talent will continue at full tilt throughout.

Looking further out towards the horizon, we have also commenced very early pre-production for our next game, codenamed P2D. Our occasional splash artist Undoodle, who made the beautiful CGs for our set-pieces, is joining us as a full visual lead for it. We will be working on it at a gentle-but-steady pace, with the intent to have a demo available for you shortly after Ravager’s main plotline is completed. You can look forward to a proper announcement about P2D in the near future.

In the interim, I hope you all have a very cosy winter period (or a very breezy summer, if you’re in the other hemisphere). I look forward to kicking off the new year with more high-grade draconic content for everyone. Cheers!

Tweaks
  • Breaker will appear on the right side of the screen, rather than the left, during his chamber interactions.
  • Chanwe’s second theology lesson will leave her suitably messy for a short period afterwards.
  • Chia’s first interaction with you in Act V will make her name clear. Existing playthroughs will have it set before Chapter One ends.
  • Mina’s kobold fate art has been slightly retouched, to improve its appearance.
  • Valzira’s broken scenes use the same background, whether they happen in Breaker’s chamber or her own cell.
  • Valzira’s birth scene, when accessed by the Gallery, will ask you about the intended state of her limbs.
  • Wherever we have recorded voice lines for the dragon, we have distributed them throughout the code to all matching lines of speech (thank you, HereToHelp and Tosk!).
  • Kobold voice lines and sound effects have also been distributed out more broadly, where they are appropriate.
  • You will need to see the court briefing in Act V before generals become available to visit.
  • New playthroughs will track how much Treasure the dragon had left over at the end of Act IV, before it is merged into the treasury.
  • Game credits have been updated.

Fixes
  • The Bad Dragon achievement hint shows the correct number of different Wounds required to achieve it.
  • The Fourth Time’s The Charm achievement can now trigger when visiting your kobold horde in act V, instead of just the court event.
  • Enid’s Never Gets Any Easier scene has the correct outro if you pick the wall variant on second (or subsequent) viewing.
  • Enid’s clothes will not be constantly ripped if she is pregnant.
  • Enid fixes her clothes between visits.
  • Rhyll will no longer reappear as a loyal general in Act V after being killed by you in Act IV. Nice try, Rhyll.
  • A handful of typos have been corrected.
