Maersk must hand over Panama port profits for up to 18 months

MSC will also have to pay USD 15.8m to operate the port of Cristóbal and hand over its profits to the state for up to 18 months, according to local media.

Maersk’s port company, APM Terminals, must pay rent and hand over the profits from the temporary operation of the Balboa port on the Panama Canal to the Panamanian state, explains Alberto Alemán Zubieta, former canal administrator, to newspaper La Prensa.
