Hi my name is Mary I’m from Iowa I’m doing research on my moms dads side of the family. He and his twin sisters were adopted when little so I’ve been doing this since I did my DNA in 2019! I just found this page idk if this will be any help for any of you or myself but here I go!

My grandfathers birth name is Kelley ! Down the line is

John Roy Kelley 1834/1909 I believe from Kentucky

He married

Sarah cyrena chandler (cyrena)

Married in 1855 I believe they lived in Tennessee and later relocated to Arkansas to hot springs!

Also moving to Oklahoma,Sarah Cyrena Chandler (1839–1921) spent much of her later life in Texas (where she and John Roy Kelley both died and are buried), several of their children and grandchildren made the specific move through Oklahoma and Iowa

The family's movement followed a common westward and then northward pattern:

The Oklahoma Connection: Their son, David Owen (Nelson) Kelley (1869–1938), moved from Arkansas to Stilwell, Oklahoma, where he lived and eventually passed away. Many of John and Sarah's grandchildren were born or raised in this region before moving further north.

The Iowa Pivot: During the early 20th century, branches of this family moved to Iowa (particularly the Mills County area) for agricultural opportunities. This is likely where the Stougard and Kelley lines crossed paths, leading to the marriage of my great-grandparents. I have all this information but really don’t know much about my great grandparents! But I figured I would share what I know! If anyone would happen to have a picture of John Roy Kelley I would appreciate it as I have zero pictures of any family past my grandfather! I have reached out to ppl I have matched with, with zero luck.
