No Wii is objectively the greatest. PS2 is perfect console to us. But as far as gaming consoles go, nothing even comes close to the Wii

Switch's numbers are only pumped up due to covid. If Switch didn't have that pump, it wouldn't be anywhere near PS2 in sales.

Shame that they fumbled on something vital: Only two controller ports. Imagine the PS2 also being a party console like the N64, with many 4-player games. I know that accessories to allow 4 controllers on PS2 existed, but who had them?

Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was Mario 64 for the kids who missed Mario 64 by a few years. I was 6, barely knew how to time my jumps, and getting those first 20 power cells felt like a pipe dream for a while.

The scarily good thing about the PS2 is that there's so many games, the moment I think I'm done, another hidden gem catches my attention. God knows how big my collection will be before long

Off the top of my head I can recall countless obscure exclusives for the PS2. Meanwhile the PS5 has one game, Astro Bot.

Greatest ever era too. It was just perfect. Everything aligned in the 3D era. We didn’t need the internet just friends and family.

I'd honestly prefer Sony just give up on modern-anything and rerelease the PS2 and all of its games. They haven't done anything good since.

If someone finds a way to reliably play ps2 games portably I would never buy any new games ever again

Sorry it was the PS3. Golden age of online gaming and the start of it. You could connect online, add friends, themes/avatars-say almost whatever you wanted to anyone online. Still an insane variety of genres/exclusives. And it was the golden age of call of duty, best times ever.

It was the last living room console that was not a locked-up proprietary PC disguised as a console.

I still go with the PS3 as some of my favorite franchises are on there, and if you were lucky enough to have one of the backwards compatible ones (sadly mine died on me), but even buying digitally, you could have the entire Resident Evil franchise on one console.

I can say Sony sucks all day. But there was a time when they didn't. This was that time. Them in their prime. PS2 was very very very good.

Sadly by the time it came, I was deemed to old to get a console from my parents and too young to be able to buy one myself

The Switch is really the only console that I feel rivals the PS2 in terms of its library. It has that same variety plus lots of indies and 1st party titles (the reasonably priced ones of course)
