A new $5.2 million retail, office and food complex will open in Rolleston within a year.
The South Point complex at 51-57 Faringdon Blvd is in the centre of the new Faringdon subdivision, close to the Selwyn Aquatic Centre, and the under development Rolleston College and Foster Park.
Developer Jo Southen said the owners of The Pedal Pusher in Christchurch's Lincoln Rd – Madlen and Wayne Shaw – have leased the cafe and bar site, while spots for a convenience store with Post Shop facilities, an Indian Restaurant, and clothing store have also been leased.
Four spaces are left, including a first floor office space, with two tenancies under negotiation.
South Point is expected to open at the end of March.
Southen is working on the development with her sisters, Tania Croucher and Bridget Foster. The trio are pooling together their respective backgrounds in hospitality, land development, and accounting.
Southen and Croucher live in Selwyn, while Foster lives in the United Kingdom.
"We're from Rolleston, we grew up here. We wanted to do a project together, something to challenge all our skills," Croucher said.
Southen said the trio, who have worked on development projects before, felt Selwyn needed something boutique.
"We see it more as a destination for Selwyn – it's not just for Faringdon."
