[香港 ２３日 ロイター] - ２０２１年に香港国家安全法（国安法）に基づいて４７人の民主派活動家・元議員らが逮捕・起訴された事件を巡り、有罪判決を受けた１２人の被告による上訴を香港高等法院の上訴法廷が２３日、全て棄却した。
この事件は、２０年の立法会選挙に向けて民主派が候補者一本化のために実施した選挙が当局によって国家性意見転覆の企てと見なされ、２１年に警察が一斉逮捕に乗り出した。４７人が起訴され、２４年終盤に大部分が４─１０年の拘禁刑を言い渡されていた。
このうち判決を不服とした１２人が上訴した。ただ、上訴した法廷で裁判官は、被告らは法学者ベニー・タイによって構想・提唱・推進された陰謀の一員であり、それは香港の憲政秩序を打倒することを目指した「憲法上の大量破壊兵器」を生み出すことになったと主張した。
今回の上訴棄却により、１２人の刑期が確定した。
