[begrudgingly] different characters work better with different settings, and "il troppo stroppia" (too much is too much)
one of my problems in dt17 is exactly how it got so bloated and exaggerated that a lot of comic elements make no sense there. most obvious example being fethry- who's meant to be the loony cousin, hyperactive into fads, a whirlwind that drags everyone along whether they want or not- which in a setting like dt17 is useless since EVERYONE is a hyperactive whirlwind. Why did Fethry get isolated by Scrooge when his secretary is a screeching banshee? Etc.

How’d you feel if they added Ducktales characters/elements to the Disney Ducks comic universe? Also your art got me to read the Mickey/Donald comics and wow they’re really good I love Paperinik
Depends on the element and character but in theory I'm not against it, the disney comics I grew up with were already a big grab-bag- magica being roommates with mad madam mim, that sort of thing. I thought there was a fun cameo a few years ago where an italian story had donald and fethry hallucinate a different money bin for a panel and it was the one from dt17, that was fun. the biggest issue is just a lot of the new concepts in both ducktales shows are there to fill spaces stuff already had filled within the comics. gizmoduck would certainly be more redunctant in a world where duck avenger or red bat exist, right? no point bringing ms beakley in in a world where quackmore is there, and so on.

Hi. I'm the guy that went over Yuuta's personality. I wasn't defending anything it was agreeing with you. Sorry for being annoying.
it's fine, sorry if that was a bit too brusque. Just suddenly over the period of the past day there's multiple asks, replies, back and forths, paragraphs long, about this manga caused by me just going "dunno if this is canon", it starts to grate a bit, you know? I've said before I'd like more asks and interaction, but not if that interaction is not only Sonic yet again, but also kind of an exhaustive discourse spinning out of just a quick answer where I'm intentionally going "I'm not giving it much thought yet " and suddenly it feels I have two or three dedicated people going "no actually, give it all the thought, right now !" with no apparent end in sight, no one picking on the social cues of me indicating it's not a discussion I'm interested in right now
ok that's enough asks about the sonic manga please understand me saying "I don't know if this is canon" or "I want to read this whole thing to understand the characters fully" is not me judging. You do not have to send me a long text defending and defining the characters, you do not have to have a back and forth with someone else through my blog to talk about fan ideas with the characters, you don't have to do anything. I'm not saying the manga is bad, I'm literally just saying "give me time to understand it more fully". Eeesh. I know no one is trying to be malicious about it, you just really like it and are trying to sell it to someone, but please stop for now, you're if anything making it worse if you start to annoy me about it needlessly since, again, I'm not even saying I don't like it or anything.
And, on the other hand, I also don't want any "god why can people only enjoy things in comparison", or even worse "god why do these japanese purists etc etc". You might not be fully aware that as far as Sonic goes, barking about "JP purist" in this blog of all places is very much barking up the wrong tree.

If Yuuta eventually joins IDW, who would you want to see him interact with and maybe help in a battle?
I can't answer yet- I'll need the manga to end first so I've got a complete picture of who the character is, then I can judge how easily he can appear in other things
On the flipside, put Surge in the manga to get her face kicked for a chapter, that'd be fun

maurofonsecaAnonymous asked:Sorry if the Manga talk is getting on your nerves. But I think it's worth pointing out that some of the Sonic x Shadow generations lines that reference the Manga where added to the game in an update and where not originally in the game, all of which are optional pieces of dialog that's easy to miss. Also @zook-x I saw your reblog i agree that Yuuta and Tangle would get along. But I think you heavily underestimate G.U.N. like yeah Yuuta is very durable but he will get tired and he would get tired and he would likely be using the blade of courage's basic form as that form phases and drains energy to make things slow, so Yuuta would likely be holding back because he definitely isn't going to cut people in half with the true courage form, meaning while he might take out a good amount of agents and maybe a couple of mechs but not enough that he wouldn't get overwhelmed and he doesn't have the speed to escape anyways. Plus if they are after an artifact that just happens to require the blade of courage to get to, then they could just ask Yuuta for help, he is known to be kind hearted and loves helping others even if he can be a little snarky towards some people. And while Yuuta would be willing to leave G.U.N the moment they do something he doesn't like and he might go after the artifact on his own or with sonic thanks to the character development Yuuta recently got in the Manga. G.U.N could just put a tracker on him before he leaves. I hope my rant isn't to bothersome mister Mauro. It's not getting on my nerves, but I will say, if now you're wanting to talk about the manga with someone on my reblogs or replies, surely it makes the most sense to go to their blog and talk to them? Don't make me the Cyrano here lol.As for that update bit, is that true? I didn't remember there being an update that added any writing content to the game#ask33
maurofonsecamurdercide626 asked:Personally I think the Shadow05 game was one of the best things to happen to Shadow character development-wise (goofy execution aside lol). It allowed Shadow to directly confront his past and inner demons so he could finally move past them.Eeeehhhhh. I guess? I feel it wasn't needed to confront his past, he already had done that in SA2. In the 2000s that sort of plot of the tortured protagonist exploring his past was popular, so they just kinda did it again to Shadow. Like, he already was that in SA2, right- he thinks he has a set of memories, turns out they're false, etc. Then they bring him back for Heroes- what to do? Oh just give him amnesia, that's popular, Wolverine etc. Then you got to solve that amnesia, so now you have to do that plot yet again of confronting the past and fake memories and so on. So while I don't mind Shadow05's plot, I can't help but imagine or pine for what if they'd had the foresight to not trap Shadow in a loop of "but what dark secrets does his past hold". Because when you think about it, he never got to have a story that wasn't like that in some way. Even 06, nominally unrelated to the ARK story, is about "why does this new villain look like Shadow and hate him? What dark secrets does his past hold?". Even Forces, which has a lot of other issues in the plotting, part of the problem to me is how Episode Shadow is about "why does Infinite hate Shadow? What dark secrets does his past hold?" etc. And then Shadow Generations is obviously just "Shadow confronts his past" yet again. It's all Shadow gets to do, and I wish he got to break from that.#ask11

maurofonsecamurdercide626 asked:The thing is though, we could have had the "Gerald-Gero" scenario and still gotten flashbacks of pre-GUN-raid Gerald to flesh him out. We'd see both sides of him, potentially, and milk as much drama out of it as possible! lolSure, but personally I feel the tragedy works better when he just dies in the despair and bitterness of the original scenario. Bringing him back as a cyborg is a really cool concept in a "grass is greener" sense but I think personally in the end we got the better scenario, even if "also Shadow is aliens" is really dumb lmao. I guess the actual answer is a Shadow game should've been about something new rather than Shadow's past, because otherwise it forced them to have to do some goofiness in any way lol#ask16
maurofonsecamurdercide626 asked:Yeah, part of me was thinking maybe at least some of the reason they nixed the resurrected Gerald scenario was because they knew they'd have to kill him off at the end of the game and they were too attached to the "two Eggmen" scenario and wanted it to potentially be a recurring thing, so they made up an entirely new villain they could safely kill off instead. lolBut I personally never really cared for Eggman Nega, if only because he comes across as a generic doomsday villain type with poorly thought out origins/motivations. However if it was a resurrected Gerald instead that would make it much more interesting imo, especially with the kinds of interactions we'd get to see between Shadow and Eggman with this resurrected, crazed, doom-seeking Gerald.I get not caring for eggman nega, but to me it's kind of a similar thing to the zeti- if the character doesn't seem to have cool stuff it's because no cool stuff was made with the character, right? make cool stories and the character'll be cool, etc. beyond that though I like that eggman nega's role is more of a secondary one- he's there less to carry a plot being a villain, more to be the surprise last second villain to even eggman himself, a last second twist. which tbh I guess was also gerald's role lolas for gero-gerald while it'd be interesting, I think in the end I prefer the gerald we got in shadow05, where we get to actually see him be the kind grandfather he used to be, adding to the tragedy of SA2- this jolly scientist wishing well to shadow in a recorded message with funny fluffy blue slippers and anime bottle bottom glasses is the same scientist declaring the death of the entire world and getting executed on camera for it#ask9
maurofonsecaAnonymous asked:think you'll draw classic-ified Abraham Tower? or Black Doom?yeah they're in the works and would've been out already until I realised that by my own rules of what to draw, I had to draw not just shadow and super shadow but hero shadow and dark shadow and chaos boost shadow and doom wing shadow and etc etcand then also each of the shadow androids from multiplayerand each of their hero and dark formsand so suddenly I had like 20 shadows to draw so I've lagged on actually finishing the batch of characters from shadow05 but they're all sketched lolby now when I finish it I'll probably add tori to fit with the group, maybe gerald's sons too#ask5

maurofonsecamurdercide626 asked:Ever since I saw scrapped concept art for the Shadow game depicting a seemingly resurrected Gerald alongside Eggman, I've had this theory that Eggman Nega might possibly have evolved from this early idea.Gerald and Nega certainly have similarities, namely their close resemblance to Eggman, their graying mustaches, and their darker and more sinister personalities, as well as their shared desire to destroy the world. Not to mention the fact that Shadow and Rush were in development at the same time. This also got me thinking about what might have happened if Sega went forward with this initial concept. Would Gerald take Nega's place as a semi-recurring antagonist who sometimes teams up with Eggman? Or would it be more of a one-and-done deal? What are your thoughts on all of this?First off that you've made me realise I should include Dr. Gerald-Gero in my classic sonic drawings, something I hadn't considered yetanyway yeah coincidentally enough on the past couple weeks I've made comparisons between these characters in order to explain the difference between of eggman and eggman nega, how eggman isn't "evil" in the "malice" sense but in the "selfish" sense- he won't destroy the world, he'll just control it and not care if you disagree, whereas nega will just go "yeah nah blow it up", and how nega is in effect gerald but without a tragic motivation (IIRC the best motivation we seem to have for him is "my ancestor sucked I'm going back and mogging him" right?). I think this might help people better understand that there actually are different distinct uses to these characters, since I often see the complaint of "what's the point of eggman nega when eggman exists", which tends to indicate a lack of understanding of both.is it a coincidence? probably not entirely, but also dunno? we do seem to have a few examples of different characters from the same roots- most obviously chaos gamma and omega probably having been the same character at one point, but if you look at the concept art and storyboards for sonic 3 and how the idea that became knuckles was just drawn as "vegitto sonic" it's easy to see where shadow came from. so I could easily see eggman nega being at least inspired by going "ok how do you make another dimension's eggman, well it's gerald". but could also be a total coincidence- the design seems more based on classic eggman, making the moustache white is just because old, and the nihilistic angle is just a twist to distinguish from eggman. who knowsas for what would've gerald-gero's role been if that'd been the direction of shadow05? Like with Black Doom, I suspect not really that much different per se. They clearly at the time liked the idea of one-off villains who get to raise the stakes immensely and then get dealt with in return, so with Gerald-Gero doing a big invasion of Earth etc, I imagine the plot necessarily would've ended with him dead or something so said invasion stopped. Then you'd get cameos in mobile games 20 years later#ask7

They don't realize that IDW is far better than a Manga. The American side is where the lore is handled anyways.I don't know if this is well-intended but misguided or someone doing a well-pointed bit but most people would count me as one of those "Japanese purists" when it comes to Sonic, anon, lol#ask114
maurofonsecaAnonymous asked:Why do you think Sonic and the Blade of Courage isn't Canon? Shadow Generations has dialog that brings up stuff from the Shadow Manga and the Blade of Courage also references that Manga and stuff from Shadow generations. Sega also seems to talk about it like it is Canon similar to how they did prime. And it's a good story that doesn't contradict the games or idw so I see no reason for it to not be Canon. The Shadow Manga inherently isn't canon as it contradicts the actual game, so that makes me wonder if they plan for Blade of Courage to be. Note that this isn't a statement of quality, nor even a determinative statement outright- it might well be canon- just me wondering, and regardless a way to ensure some order in this "project"- because I don't know if it is, it gets kicked down the priority list, meaning there's an order to things, y'know?#ask72

It's a reference to how he has a sword duel with Pete at the end of Gallopin' Gaucho. That said I wouldn't particularly focus on that now (or maybe would, now that you reminded me)- he's more of a punchy scrappy guy I think.
