How do I adjust my video quality?

Disney+ detects your system’s capabilities and will automatically stream in the best video format your device supports. Movies available in the IMAX Enhanced format will automatically play in IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio during the full movie (if available) or during select sequences that were filmed or formatted for IMAX.

Alternatively, you can also manually adjust your data usage to change video streaming quality on any of your compatible devices. To find out how video quality affects your device’s data usage, learn about managing data usage settings.

Why am I getting low-quality video?

There are a few different factors that determine video quality. Try the following steps to improve your streaming experience:

  1. Confirm that the title you are watching is available in your preferred video format on Disney+

  2. Confirm that your Disney+ plan supports your preferred video format

  3. Verify that your TV, device, or display is capable of streaming high-quality video content

    • Avoid streaming through an in-line video or game recorder — use of these devices may prevent playback or limit the video quality in order to protect from piracy

  4. Check your device’s data usage settings — a lower data usage setting will deliver lower visual quality

  5. Make sure your internet connection meets our speed recommendations

  6. Follow these troubleshooting steps to help improve video playback
