Want to know all there is to know about Baby Globe?
We have been getting a lot of questions about the new mascot and Birthday mode. Here are some answers.
It is a limited-time feature on a few Wikipedias that makes celebrating 25 years of knowledge at its best even more fun. Switch on the toggle and the birthday mascot will start showing up on your Wikipedia.
For now, this feature will only be available on a few language Wikipedias: Betawi, ไธญๆ, ฤeลกtina, English, Espaรฑol, Franรงais, Bahasa Hulontalo, Bahasa Indonesia, Italiano, Lรซtzebuergesch, Madhurรข, Nederlands, Sicilianu, เธ เธฒเธฉเธฒเนเธเธข, Tiแบฟng Viแปt and Wayuunaiki. Sign up to be notified as it rolls out to other Wikipedias.
Simply slide the Birthday mode toggle on the bottom of the page to the off position and the mascot will disappear.
Yes, we can make that happen. There is still time for different language communities to decide that they want to add this celebratory feature to their Wikipedia. Leave us a message on the project talk page and we will be in touch.
Baby Globe is a big fan of hyperlink blue, as in the blue that links together articles across Wikipedia. Bonus fact: it cannot stand missing-link red.
The backstory of Baby Globe
It all goes back to Jonathan (aka BaduFerreira) who casually doodled what would eventually become Baby Globe while he was commuting home on the train. Hear what it is like to inspire a mascot, be a Wikimedian, and more.
