So what happens if Archive.today goes go down? So what happens if Archive.today goes go down?

So like, is this about to be it? The only mainstream and viable non-Wayback archiving site, which is especially useful for both X and this reddit site (both of which are unable to save on the Wayback now), is torching itself bc of its lunatic owner. Wikipedia is removing their archives to it now out of legitimate concerns.

What happens now? I know this is a dumb rhetorical, but a lot of stuff was saved on there.

Did you try to engage them at all back? Here we just call that "having conversation" and if someone isn't interested, generally one is supposed to recognize that, and then move on and leave them alone

He was already in the midst of being thrown out by then and what he was actually saying seems to be "light power" but it's been misheard as "white power" and I imagine that's in part spread because the image of Chris in a bizarre power rangers cosplay shouting racist slogans is simply too darkly funny for Joe Public not to take it and run with it

I was just thinking yeah, people just had to clench their jaws to get through the nothing for Chris to start doing actual weird shit again. Going to a convention in an absurd disguise but getting thrown out nonetheless, possibly because he handed out business cards identifying himself, and then having a days-long breakdown because of it? That’s some grade-A Chris weirdness all right.

This plus the weird sideshow that’s the Mewgenics game guy doubling down in the worst way possible should prove once again that no matter how boring Chris may be for a while, he always finds new and weirder ways to cause problems

So it varies from place to place, because sometimes you have jurisdictions where the local or state government isn’t prepared because they aren’t as used to massive snow. Some of my family down south have dealt with this repeatedly.

As for freezers? When growing up, my parents once or twice put raw meat and other food like to spoil out in coolers in the snow if the power went out, under the logic that with the fridge dead the snow would actually keep our food cold and unspoiled better since the house would be getting fairly warm

And yes sometimes people die of cold, sadly.

The Congo Free State was Leopold’s private colony, the Belgian government was forced to take control of the colonized territory due to the international outcry over the human rights abuses and genocidal conditions that were happening under Leopold

Ah, there’s a part of me that still sometimes mixes up you all, the Netherlands, and Denmark as “those smaller countries near France and Germany” thought thankfully this has lessened with maturity.

Beyond that? Fairly positive, in my opinion and experience. Your sovereignty was a primary cause for Britain’s entry into the First World War since Germany tried to cross through you to attack France, so because of that I kinda perceive you (along with Denmark and Italy) as part of the Western Allies along with us, the UK, and France, who built the liberal order after the second war was won 1945.

The thing I was raised to understand about Episcopalians by my mother is that we very pointedly don’t do performative shit to visibly but insincerely profess Christian faith, like aggressive proselytizing, and instead try to actually live like Christ taught. Operative word being try, but I’d rather try and fail than not try but loudly say I am doing.

You’re not going to Minneapolis, and even there they’ve failed and DHS is rumbling about pulling ICE back.

Nobody is going to get in your face about being Canadian. The average American holds your country in high esteem despite both your traditional distaste for us and our idiot president’s random threats on your and other allies’ territorial borders.  In my experience Mainers in particular are generally a friendly bunch, welcoming to guests and only taking longer to acclimate when out of staters actually move there long term. I am being sincere when I say you should be fine.

I don't like it, I think they're thugs, and I don't need to have interacted with them at all to come to that conclusion. Immigration enforcement and going after illegals has long since been left by the wayside; this is about inciting political and racial terror for the goals of a dying sociopath and his crew of goblins.

Minneapolis specifically has reportedly gotten much harder with ICE rampaging around. But overall, things aren't as awful in terms of day to day realities. Lots of terrible policy decisions and political rhetoric from Trump and his people, yes. But we're not all suffering like the people in Venezuela, Iran, and Sudan are.

Not at all. You would have a whole day spent just traveling across the country by plane.

One of those cities in five days maybe, I'd pick New York then because it's not too hard to get out to see Boston/New England or Philly on a day trip either. And you can see more, NYC has the touristy spots like Times Square and Statue of Liberty but also some really beautiful museums and in general is a fun city.

Most states have their state capitals as cities wholly separate from the city you think of as its main city. Illinois' capital is Springfield, not Chicago. New York's capital is Albany, not New York City. Pennsylvania's is Harrisburg, not Philadelphia. This isn't something foreigners are alone in being surprised by; Americans often tend not to think of a state's capital as being separate from its "main" city.

Who would be interested in an effort to port it over to MediaWiki or something similar? I can try to write a python script to automate it.

I'd assume you'd be better served asking those people who actually edit Wookieepedia about moving their site off of Fandom's garbage platform, as they're the ones who make it the quality wiki it is

What little exposure I've had is good I guess? There's no negative stereotypes I'm aware of and most of the experiences/impressions I have of international students from Africa, and tbh Africans immigrating to America more broadly, is fairly positive.

Is this actually a real question? You realize that the videos of stupid crashes are what go viral right? So the vast majority of normal drivers who don’t accelerate into a collision aren’t going viral because there’s no cheap entertainment value, because it’s just normal dashcam footage of a car driving. Seriously, is this an actual question?

->Martha is removed from control of Anaheim and de facto authority over the Federation

->the Federation commissions Anaheim to design a monstrosity

Hmmmm

I mean yeah? It’s bad but individually I can’t stop wealthy pedophiles from being wealthy pedophiles. The large blob of public opinion and the nebulous web of social and legal consequences are moving now, one way or the other

Bad, I guess? I tune out his social media because ninety percent of it is nonsense and ten percent of it is unhinged foreign policy rants I'll hear the gist of anyway.

That post sounds particularly bad, but I'm just kind of numb to this shit after a decade of it.

Most of it was suspected long before now and everyone's kinda numb to it I guess? I think many foreigners forget that America isn't just some bizarre horrid reality show or political drama or whatever, and that our lives continue on even when you're not looking, so there are other things to care about beyond further confirmation that our criminal president, a lot of rich assholes, and many media elites are all terrible people.

Aussies just don’t like us period, I guess it must be resentment but it’s usually masked in a lot of nasty remarks about the shoddy healthcare system and the visible gun violence problem. Bit like most of the world, but Aussies are by far the angriest about it.

Brits uhh, I guess it’s annoyance at the “younger brother” surpassing the old mother country geopolitically after the war? Again, as many many people are saying, this is a weird place to ask this (very badly worded) question. You would be better served asking a British sub “what do you think about Americans and why?” than an American sub “why the British hate you for (supposedly) being better than them”

I mean I like to read Yuri undertones into her friendship with YunYun but there’s nothing canonically saying she’s bisexual and canonically she is very much in love with Kazuma alone

How is Trump still president after all those crimes?

His party refuses to vote against him. That's it.

I'm aware that that's an issue almost anywhere in the world, but I'm pretty sure the US is absolutely the most extreme and worst example of this.

We are definitely not "the most extreme and worst example of this." India's class structure is psychotically rigid. The UAE has borderline slavery conditions. Iran's government murdered thousands of their own people earlier this month.

unaffordable healthcare (or good lifestyle in general) and basically being exploited by the rich and famous all while they're openly known criminals

Do you, uh, have any understanding of American life or quality of living outside of whatever TikTok and Twitter algorithms tell you?

 I hope I didn't offend anyone.

Heh

But like HOW doesn't anything change? Are people okay with that? Is there nothing you can do? Are you afraid or scared?

People are constantly protesting Trump in particular, ICE killed those two people because Minnesota is heavily protesting them being there. For this generally though, you seem to be convinced that the US is on the verge of economic and social collapse and it's, uh, not? Things are bad by our standards wrt Trump but he is old and his movement will collapse without him.

Also, if there are any national parks to do hikes near the capitals of the states I’ve listed, please let me know and if they are worth a visit :)

This is sorta my area of expertise and while from what I know you (and a google to double check) won't be too close to any national parks it wouldn't be too hard to find out what state parks and national forests are also nearby. Just by checking Google Maps, there are a couple of national forests only two or three hours' drive from New Orleans, for example, and those often have excellent hiking spots. Pick a forest near somewhere you'll be, go to the Forestry Service website, and see if they have hiking routes listed there. The other benefit is that the Forestry Service doesn't usually require an entrance pass for their lands, while the national park system (and most state parks I believe) do.

For most of UC yea. OG 79, Zeta, ZZ, CCA, and the anime recut of Unicorn are all on Crunchyroll. Currently Stardust Memory, which is as key to the UC timeline as Unicorn is despite both being non-Tomino, can be found on YouTube.

War in the Pocket and 08th MS Team are just OYW side stories, not on Crunchyroll. I honestly got no clue where to stream or pirate them currently but I imagine it isn’t too hard to find.
