My dog might be transphobic

Ok so my dog has never been destructive. He’s never torn up anything. He never barks. He’s completely silent. And he’s adorable and perfect and anyone who says otherwise is evil.

However. Ever since I started wearing feminine underwear, he’s been chewing them up. This was never an issue before. I’m pre HRT so I know the scent hasn’t changed. But he will knock over my laundry to grab my undies and chew them up. And I mean this in a very literal way. Male boxers? No problem for years. Feminine underwear? Immediately becomes destructive. Nothing has changed except the shape of the cloth. I can’t understand why he’s being like this.

I had a German Shepherd years ago (R.I.P.). When I started my transition and began wearing women's clothes and makeup, he often looked at me with a disappointed expression, went to a corner, sighed deeply, and started sleeping! It was hilarious, but at the same time, I wondered if a dog could really be transphobic, lol.

Maybe he's not transphobic, maybe he's just a pervert.

That’s my working theory

Well give him some good scritches and help teach him not to eat foreign objects. Blockages are expensive!

I'm not an animal expert but i highly doubt that the dog understands what is happening. It's not what he's used to so he is confused/scared or something.

I don't think a dog's brain is complex enough to have complex opinions/views such as transphobia.

One of my dogs takes everyone's socks and messes with them so your dog might think its a toy

It’s possible but it’s just weird because he’s never torn anything up at all in the six years that I’ve had him.

My mom's dog used to be a lot rougher with me when I came to visit, and when I started to transition and my smell changed, she looked at me like I was a different person at first.

But I think she realized who I was after that. She's also more gentle with me now.

My old dog was def racist so I guess anything is possible.

Veterinary CSR here- in both general practice and ER, women's underwear is almost always what's eaten. I don't think I've ever seen a paitent in 3 years that have eaten boxers, briefs or tightly whites etc. Idk if they like the shape or colors or the lace or what but it's always women's underwear.

Are you by any chance paying a lot of attention to this underwear? He might be jealous.

Not particularly, just normal wear

Your doggo just sees how happy you are in your new undies and wants to join the party!

Hormone smell changes is all. Keep your worn undies up where they are not accessible before washing, fabric can cause vomiting and/or intestinal blockages, and dogs don't seem to learn from this experience (too long between cause to effect).
