Man I went down this rabbit hole, too long ago to remember the details. Honestly I got left with the impression that both their sanities were off. Like they both did fucked up stuff and were having a violent after math of a bad breakup.

Either way I always kept going back to was there anything that was provable? Also understanding that I’d have a strong bias. Since I’ve loved his videos since for ever and want to believe the best of him.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I honestly barely remember, but didn’t she report it and the investigation found nothing provable?

And there’s a few channels that have sort of built their whole identity through vilifying exurbia.

From an ignorant viewer’s perspective, it’s been years and nothing tangible has come out of it. It’s not up to us to decide what has happened with the nothing that has been given.

You say he needs to own up to it? What if he hasn’t done what has been accused isn’t that still very much a possibility? Or did you mean just like address the whole controversy to his audience?

I mean if he did do it, why tf would he ever own up? And if he didn’t do it, it’s not exactly certain that addressing it is the best course of action, shit is really messy and it might just make the ex make more content and become louder.

BTW if there I something big I’m missing, feel free to grill me and inform me it is purely for a lack of having gone back properly and done some more research and keeping up to date.

I found an insightful comment under one of the videos from someone who investigated the exurb1a case. It seems pretty neutral but of course we can’t tell for sure. I copy-pasted it:

“Alright, to anyone who might still stumble upon this, I will copy-paste all my findings one last time since I follow this case since it started, and add some new things that I heard. I'm trying to be as neutral as possible, just adding updates when I can:

No direct information from Exurb1a after this video, some posts from Pieke Around second quarter of 2022 I discovered all the evidences from Pieke blogpost disappeared. Wayback machine also failed, and it said the site owner (so Pieke herself) contacted them to remove any data about her blog from their servers. Her crowdfunding campaign for second court trial is gone like it never existed. Links are dead. Wayback machine shows something, but it's bugged, and I can't be sure if numbers on gathered money there are correct or up-to-date. No information on what happened with all gathered money. Around the end of 2022 her blog got connected to her patreon, so if you wanted to access it, you had to pay her. It seems she made some updates about "healing" and basically looks like she runs her entire online persona around being a victim. I don't know anyone who pays her patreon, so I couldn't investigate it further, and I'm not sure if there was any concrete info on this case in it, but from outside it looks like there might be nothing. An update from over a year ago, her blog post with evidences is back up again. Nothing new was added as far as I checked other than very vague posts about injustice and what I can interpret as mental suffering, depression, medications. I didn't found anything concrete about this case. There appeared some posts on her patreon, mentioning this case, but again - I can't access it. Some posts also mention her mental was so bad she was not eligible for therapy, and it only recently improved well enough for her to start therapy again. I can guess it's psychotherapy. New blog post about Exurb1a from Pieke December 7 2023 - Nothing new, but a lot of the blog is very accusatory and sounds quite vile. I try to be neutral here, but I can't deny that her calling him "friend" all the time, and accusing him that he "almost killed a mother of her child" is really not casual writing. It's a difficult read, but it has nothing new about this case. It just feels very toxic.

The only notable thing is, that apparently Exurb1a dropped all communication with her in 2017 and never contacted her again even when she tried. Around last two months Bullet Barry's videos have been privated. They can still be found, only if you know what you're looking for. At this point we still have no official info from either side about the court case or any developments about ordeal between them. Pieke removed all evidences she could, then brought it back, and privated her entire online existence for a while before going at it again last year, and going dark again. And Exurb1a does what he always did, makes videos and acts like nothing ever happened.

There's some extra information I got to, some are rumors:

They were in court in 2019/2018 (I'm not sure which year exactly), and he has been set free with no legal charges. I found an article, that found 84% of these accusations, that went to court in 2019, ended with some legal consequences for the accused. Meaning she had to have really bad defence. I heard she refused to give her phone for investigation to the police, which would be good reason they ended the court case without jailing anyone, however that is unconfirmed information. I also read from few sources — however that's also unconfirmed — that she is or was being investigated for child neglect or abuse. Pieke expressed how she is very afraid she might be attacked by Exurb1a's fans, however I saw no proof of such thing actually happening. Multiple sources I found say that apparently they went to court again, and the case was yet again dismissed. But I couldn't get to solid sources of these info, it would however align with Pieke's aggressive blog as she would have nothing left to lose. Exurb1a also released only one video in a span of a year between middle of 2023 and middle of 2024, so it seems something did happen there. That's all I know and heard, but we most probably never will hear any official info from them anymore. My personal opinion is that exurb1a is a huge asshole and pieke has a LOT of issues she struggles with, which resulted in explosive mix, but I can't find any reason for anyone to go to jail, if anything Pieke did quite some defamation with all the SA accusations with no solid proofs.

I think the case is closed, and it's time to move on.“

I would not say that that statement is neutral or necessarily reliable in any way. I also followed this case, and there's more evidence here than your average rape case. There were witnesses to some sort of abuse. The second alleged incident took place at a hospital, and it was heard by at least two other people who vouched for her on record. Her physical injury was recorded.

YES, pieke is strange and angry. She is a very mentally ill autistic woman. She took down everything (it's back up now) because she WAS getting death threats. I saw the death threats. Do any of you honestly believe that she wasn't? We've got people in this thread defending actual rape.

Her blog was "aggressive" and "vile" - you guys are so unforgiving to the wrong people. Innocent people dont act like he did. FALSE ACCUSATIONS ARE RIDICULOUSLY DEEPLY RARE. I watched that girl fight however she could for years. He's fine now, and her story is still the same. He did it.

All of her stuff is up by the way. She took down parts of the website, but the Dutch articles, YouTube videos, tweets, Wikipedia - everything - is still up.

Do you have any information why Barry quit the documentary? I thought it was really weird that they announced it so big and then he basically did the same thing Ex did. Just went radio silent but didn’t take down the videos about the planned project. I don’t say your points aren’t valid I’m just curious if there are any information about the Barry situation.

I’m still on the fence and just reposted the comment because there are some interesting points made. I don‘t know who wrote it and how neutral they are.

He uploaded something. It was met with mixed reviews. Its unlisted, but not hard to find. If you want to know what's more interesting than a failed YouTube "investigation" its what happened with actual journalists Kat Tenbarge and Mathilda Mallinson. The podcast pieke did with mathilda is now taken down, but the transcript is still online. Its the Media Storm Podcast - what happens to the 98%. She clearly did work with journalists, and on her old Twitter, they used to use her hashtag.

I'm pretty sure something happened behind the scenes and everyone unlisted their work. Piekes main website is just her music now, but you can still find the blog part if you know what to look for. The interviews & YouTube videos are still up, but unlisted. Podcast transcript is still up, but hard to find. I think she was probably told to stop talking because she started criticizing Dutch authorities, and the legal system. No statements were ever retracted.

The case wasn't dropped because of lack of evidence. The case was dropped because Dutch courts are very very notoriously bad at prosecuting rape. She had to find him herself when HE HID from court. A statement was made a while ago by Dutch athorities, and it's clear that they did think there was some evidence. Of course, the articles are in Dutch.

We have google translate, so you can just link the articles. Never seen any indication that the dutch authorities say they have any evidence. Also, to say the case was dropped "because the system is bad" should probably be backed up with some kind of evidence that dutch courts are worse than other compareable countries.

Why must I reproduce the effort I put in twice, when you could also do it yourself once? It's public information. You can find the sources yourself, translate them, and also find out what the Dutch themselves have to say about how Dutch courts handle sexual assault cases.

The evidence is there already. I won't spend hours gathering data just to be picked apart lazily by people who couldn't be bothered to lift a finger and try. You shift the goalposts by demanding more & more while you do less & less.

Anyone who cares will do what I did, and will not copy my homework.

No, he's not obligated to address it. The claims were dropped by the court afaik. The recordings were edited out of context. And overall the story rings to me like a personal dispute that got escalated by the girl for revenge and attention. She tried to drag him down in all the wrong ways (instead of full recordings - doing a full on mud slinging campaign online). You can believe whatever you like, but if he's innocent and she's just doing false accusations (and from what i've seen her behavior suggests that. Though you don't need to believe me) - then exurbia does not owe any explanations. Like, someone does you wrong and then you have to go out of your way to defend yourself in public? No, if I were innocent I'd just not give her the recognition . And i would not part take in the attempted tear-down of my life's work.

That's not how it should work IMO. Everybody can be a rapist. You can be rapist, I don't know anything about you. But I won't assume it without evidence. It would lead to insanity in society. Especially now that fake stuff is generated for the sake of drawing online attention and clicks. Just today I had to argue with a friend about Epstein eating babies.

Well I do see your vision I just can't look the other way when Alex himself is giving weird hints in his books and videos. That doesn't prove he is a rapist for sure but it leaves a gap what is he apologising for. And as his viewer I would've wanted to know whether the allegations are true or not. I can't differentiate the art and the artist atleast not when it's connecting to me. I do understand his ways of action if he is innocent but there are some examples of him dropping hints. Though I've moved on from the matter and am fine thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the polite discussion as well. I still think you should be more skeptical in cases like this. Innocence is implied, because baiting someone into apologizing or commenting on something they've not done can be weaponized. If he engages with these accusations he's stepping in the middle of a crowd of angry people trying to be heard. There's no winning in an internet debate like that. If someone hates you - they're always going to make new accusations and twist your words.There's a bias for believing the first version you hear. So seeing hints afterwards is not that unexpected. So consider that if you just now think of the possibility that he's not done anything illegal (though there might've been fighting)

Listen… I’m not saying he did or didn’t do it, but everyone is a son of a bitch in one way or another. There has to be a path to redemption and forgiveness or there’s no one left to enrich the world. Everyone’s someone’s villain. “Canceling” someone is toxic. Removing someone’s ability to do good because they once did bad is dehumanizing.

Seriously though just for my own sanity I spent 20+ hours researching this years ago, and what I found was that basically none of what Pie has materially is any sort of admissible evidence towards a case, it comes across like a claim by a girl who claims severe vulnerability due to autism in her statements yet seems absolutely, unequivocally compus mentis in all documented exchanges she offers as evidence to prove behaviours supporting her argument. All video evidence is documented "in secret" (literal hidden camera) and was done to gather evidence to support her claims, but is cut to ribbons to manipulate context and could have easily been rage-baited given the absolute lack of context or lead-up to petty heated arguments. As an old fart now (getting towards late 30's) ........the whole thing felt very childish and "Twenties". I know alot of folk are in a state of "I guess we'll never find out what happened" but honestly, after looking into it properly and seeing the whole picture (things like the court filings and Dutch newspaper articles etc, both of which were paid for by Pie and her army of white-knights & Karens, rather than happening organically - obviously, and literally) - I have very much put this down to an over-advertised childhood spat (early adulthood is still childhood, ask anyone over 35).

Ah dude I'd love to but that was a long time ago, I needed to know myself like you at the time and spent a good half a dozen nights looking into it to come to that conclusion, I can't just pull evidence out at will unfortunately. The Justice for Pieke pages (Google it) are where I started though. The only actual "evidence" of any ill behaviour was recordings after the arguments between them at a time when she was baiting Alex into arguments to make recordings to try and evidence his behaviour, it was pretty clear. Personally I think their relationship turned toxic, they behaved crap towards eachother (no more than standard for kids in their 20's) and the white knights of the world basically spoon-fed her the old "You're an abuse victim" line and then the campaign started.

That's really the hard part. I stopped watching him years ago after hearing there was the active court case about it, and that it was really fuzzy. I just don't feel comfortable watching videos of someone who mightve been bad. But I do love the videos. I come back every now and then to check if anything cleared up. Usually I'm hoping the girl has officially rescinded her accusations so I can watch again but hasn't happened yet. People are quick to say seperate the art from the artist but its hard to do without feeling like I'm giving money to a possible rapist. Nothing against exurbia either, I do love his work. I just don't feel comfortable with it if true.

Exactly same. Found out his channel literally days ago and really loved the videos but accidentally stumbled upon a reddit post a day earlier and now during my exam I'm watching hour long videos reading walls of articles and connecting dots from subtle hints.

I want to know what the actual f is going on.

From my experience, "believe all women" has been the most toxic movement to ever happen to women because, i for one know how it's affected how i view their claims now. i am now very wary of anyone who gets AUTOMATIC support for being accusatory with little evidence to support their claims. Why? Because it's an easy way to get a pat on the back. Humans like easy pats on the back. Also, because it's happened to me. In my case the reality is fairly obvious and supports my innocence. However, the cleanup on that isle is still gross and unfortunately it's required. i feel the need to have a copy and pasted response prepared for anyone who questions me about it. And i shouldn't. False accusations are damning and all the girls who have cried wolf are going to lead to a lot more cases of little red riding hoods being abused.
I'm fortunate that i can separate the art from the artists. So even if any condemning evidence is brought forward against it's perpetrators, i can still get something out of the art that they produced. It's my philosophy that you can learn nearly as much from those you don't wish to be like as from those that you admire. Many toxic people have taught me valuable lessons of how NOT to be. I feel it's my responsibility to be able to discern the valuable from the worthless.
Ideas are abstract and good ones can still be held by tyrants and monsters. Pick the flowers and leave the weeds.

So... who in their right mind would make a web page to tell how an author is bad, should be in jail and stuff? It's weird! And doing that for years?

If she has evidence then go to court. This looks more like jelousy than something real.

Exurb1a have been training our minds to think - then think! There's no essence in accusations. And we weren't there. We may never know. But when we do - then we'll make our stand.

Awful people have done amazing things. I’m not claiming he is awful so much as saying his personal behavior doesn’t dictate the merits of his works. They hold great value to me on their merits. I don’t know the man and don’t need to. As we say in Buddhism, if you run into the Buddha, kill him (don’t idolize your heroes or believe in earthly gods).
