To identify the model and/or firmware version of the YubiKey or Security Key you have, use Yubico Authenticator. With this application you can see the model, firmware version, and serial number of your YubiKey. Keep in mind serial numbers are unique across all models of YubiKeys.

manual-icon.svg Note: Products from the Security Key Series as well as the YubiKey Bio - FIDO Edition do not have serial numbers.

 

  1. Install Yubico Authenticator on Windows, macOS, or Linux
  2. Insert your YubiKey or Security Key
  3. Click Home on the left menu to view details of the inserted YubiKey or Security Key

 

You will now be able to see:

 

  • YubiKey model
  • Serial number (if applicable)
  • Firmware version
  • All currently enabled modules (Yubico OTP, PIV, OATH, etc.)
