The Mock Turtles were the quintessential one hit wonder, best known to the layman for their 1991 single Can You Dig It, which peaked at 18 in the UK singles chart. They did in fact achieve another charting single with And Then She Smiles, which peaked at 44, and two of their albums entered the UK albums chart, Two Sides, in 1991, and 1990s Turtle Soup, which entered the charts in 1991 after the success of Can You Dig It.

Despite their success being primarily oriented around a single song, and perhaps due to the disadvantage of being a band in a genre (Madchester/baggie) at the brink of being supplanted by the incoming Britpop, they never achieved any lasting in-roads into the mainstream. As for the album itself, it consists of rather solid, if usually unremarkable tracks that echo heavily of their contemporaries. The opening track, Kathy Come Home, is a standout, along with the two charting singles.
