Why not VLC? I'm using VLC to watch all my movies. But it's not controlling the display brightness but Films&TV does. I thought it doesn't affect the movie qulaity or does it? Please explain.

That would be unprecedented. The MCU doesn't do genuine "extended cuts," mostly because it would harm their continuity if different cuts contradicted each other. For example, Endgame's "extended" theatrical re-release only had unfinished and trivial scenes that wouldn't matter in the future. They also wouldn't place important info in bonus scenes that may or may not be available in all markets.

Haven't tried them. Tried VLC and MPC + LAV though and both of them didn't work. Would be interesting if MPC + K-Lite or PotPlayer can decode DDP or TrueHD.

I use media player classic (the one with 123 on its icon). Looks great. If your screen is not an HDR screen, then go to options>playback>output>direct show video and choose madVR from the list.
If it doesn't work, install k-lite codec pack (check all of the codec boxes), and then do the same.

Both PotPlayer and MPC (K-Lite Codec Pack) can decode TrueHD or even passthrough to a receiver.

Don't know if you posted this comment before they release the DDP audios or not, but they're out now. They release DDP for most movies; I got it for Dune and No Time to Die.

The lossy version is DDP, not TrueHD, which is the same as the one the OP is able to decode. As someone who watches movies on their laptop, I have the same problem since no player on Windows can decode TrueHD, and only Movies&TV app can decode DDP if you have Dolby Access.

Apple 4K TV 2021 does 4K and Dolby Atmos (lossy version) with Plex perfectly fine. I believe the NVIDIA Sheild Pro can too.
