Fullstack Developers Are the Most Expensive — PHP the Cheapest We calculated the average salary per year of developer experience, and the results show a clear difference between categories. It doesn’t depend on how many candidates were hired or their average experience — it depends on the tech stack. 📊 Average salary per year of experience (Q1 2025 hires, 1–10 years of experience): Fullstack — $731 Python & Golang — $714 PHP — just $437 Interestingly, Android developers had the most experience at the time of hire — 6.5 years on average. PHP developers came second in terms of experience, followed by Golang devs — with a noticeable gap. Fullstack developers were hired with under 4 years of experience, and Java developers were the least experienced at hire overall.

✨ Just wrapped up my talk “The Missing Middle Ground: Fast & Real Testing for React Native” at React Alicante 🎤🇪🇸 I introduced a new library we’ve been working on at Callstack: React Native Harness. 👉 Created by my colleague Szymon Chmal (amazing work!) 👉 It makes it possible to run Jest-style tests directly on real devices/simulators, with no mocks by default 👉 With just a few imports, your familiar Jest tests suddenly get full access to the native runtime - it feels automagical ✨ This library fills a gap between unit tests (fast, but mocked) and end-to-end tests (real, but slow). It’s designed for testing native modules, spec compliance (like fetch or WebSocket), and more - all with developer-friendly DX. 📺 The recording of my talk will be published soon. 📦 We’re releasing the library on October 14 - stay tuned! Ever looked at a distributed trace that felt… incomplete? You see the frontend request. You see the final database call. But the async workflow in between is hard to follow. Together with Mauricio (Salaboy) Salatino, our Principal Developer Advocate, Kasper Borg Nissen explored how to bridge that gap in Dapr Workflows using OpenTelemetry. Dapr already emits rich workflow spans and propagates W3C Trace Context correctly. However, workflows execute over a single, long-lived gRPC stream. With no new request per activity and execution hopping across threads, there’s nowhere for trace context to attach naturally. The key insight: don’t fight the transport. The result is a single, continuous trace - from the initial frontend call, through workflow orchestration, all the way to downstream services. This work is part of a broader effort at Dash0, collaborating across the cloud-native ecosystem, including projects like Dapr, Linkerd, and Traefik, to help connect the dots between solid existing instrumentation and truly end-to-end observability.
