This started when some brown girl was able to add "CONST" to a bunch of source code files and get a full scholarship off the claim that she made hundreds of contributions to open source. Since then, jeets and other bottom dwellers, have seen getting PRs accepted as the path to employment and free money. In the past they did similar low effort shit like she did but now with AI, they can have it generate plausible looking code that ends up failing code reviews.
>>
>>108177836 (OP)
why not use AI to score contributions on how likely it is written by AI and automatically reject most AI-like ones?

is this a joke? AI, at best, replaces low IQ pajeets, the low-brow tasks of typing code like a monkey on a typewriter. the AI isn't coming up with new features and algorithms, you have to spoonfeed it telling it step by step what to do. for example in windows 11 there are barely any new features, just marginal stuff like layers in mspaint, so where is this 100-1000x productivity that you're seeing?
"Measuring programming progress by lines of code is like measuring aircraft building progress by weight." - Bill Gates

So we've reached the point where the anti-AI hysterics just completely detach from reality, and it all dissolves into Xitter schizophrenics throwing shit at everyone?
It's extremely easy to look at godot's PRs, which are public, and verify that they are not drowning in "slop code" (whatever that nonsensical buzzword means). In fact, it looks pretty obvious that they're handling new PRs just fine.
Stop giving attention to shitty journalists and attention-seekers like OP.

The solution is simple: ban AI submissions for all random people. Only trusted regular contributors should have the right to use agents. Otherwise, it's just not sustainable for the maintainers.

My question is, if you were here since almost the beginning, what are you doing with your life to still be on this shit hole 20 years later? Also, i doubt most iPad babies have the ability or interest to visit a page where you have to read and it's not just 5-30s sensory overload videos with people talking to them, and even the current captcha should (unfortunately) filter out a significant chunk of them. Although, I believe they could still make it as gooners on /gif/.

Ay yes I forbid you from running GitHub Copilot/codex/claude code on your machine or talk to any chatbot in the browser and I sure as hell rely on you just openly admitting to having used them knowing that I'll disregard your pr immediately with that in mind. Surely the honorable and honest random second and third world strangers spamming prs to have open source contributor to famous projects on their cv will then no longer annoy you. Btw. I hope you don't have typos in your readme, but don't you worry, if you don't just accept this pr asap beautiful and you will have.

The only one entity that has to read and understand the code is the computer with the help of the compiler. The code being unreadable for a human doesn't really matter as long as it works and an llm can adjust it to fix whatever bug or implement whatever feature that needs fixing/implementation. That's the unfortunate reality we are stumbling into. Your user doesn't care how it works and if you understand the code.

no you retard, ai is to lessen the number of prs that will go to the human reviewers, nobody said ai will be the sole arbiter of what prs get merged or not. why are all anti ai arguments in bad faith?
>>
>>108180874
the point stands, perhaps even more so. you don't trust the ai to code, fine, but trust it to decide who's human now?

yes, because ai failing at telling if code is human or not will cause significanly less problems than letting it decide if the pr goes through or not. in one case the issue is solved with an email while the other may propagate breaking code to those that autoupdate from source on every commit

>>108181062
He must mean Epic sees Unity as a threat. But it should really be the other way around. Unity is a bigger engine than Unreal Engine. Unity makes billions from its engine and engine-services. Epic makes millions on Unreal Engine; the bulk of their revenue comes from Fortnite. Just goes to show how relaxed Unreal Engine's licensing fees are. Although, Unity also has a stranglehold on mobile games. Not quite monopoly-tier but the vast majority of mobile games, including big ones, are built in Unity. Apparently there's a semi-custom licensed version for Chinese/Asian-based studios who focus on high-end mobile games, while the one that's generally available is just that, a general version. It has mesh shader virtualized geometry, virtual texture maps, and all the other cutting edge stuff that unreal has.
