I was so pleased to visit Rome resident Alice Gafner today and present her with a proclamation for her 108th birthday.
Alice has bore witness to more than a century of historic change, innovation and progress, while herself contributing meaningfully to the life and character of Oneida County as a teacher.
What a remarkable milestone for a remarkable woman.

Happy Birthday Alice! I had the honor of teaching at Denti School with Alice, where I 1st met her. All younger teachers loved her! She supported her friends, thru good times & tough times.
