Hey are you able to get trophies while playing on the friends pass (on ps5)
The Sister (the girl in the rabbit mask) originally dying or died from a sickness exacerbated by the war. Overcome with grief and refusing to let her go, the brother and their three friends (desperate and terrified by the conflict around them) turned to the occult. They performed some sort of forbidden ritual to bring her back (you can see that on the scene after the lamb swallowed the sister), believing it would save her and maybe. perhaps end the war.
But the ritual required a vessel. They sacrificed her body to the well (which was seen at the ending—them dragging her to the well), likely weighing her down or drowning her, hoping she would rise again 'cured.
This was their Original Sin. I think the ritual reanimated her as a vessel for the Lamb demon god entity. And the flood that starts the game is actually the well overflowing at the end of the ritual.
They are trapped in a loop of their own making. So i think every time they try to save her in the game, they are actually just reliving the guilt of killing her. The world is twisted because it is a hellscape built from their collective trauma cuz it's the war that killed their innocence, and the monster they birthed to escape it.
Symbolism i found:
• Their Mask— There is a pre-order mask for the Brother that is a Fox. In folklore, the Fox is the trickster or deceiver. This implies the Brother didn't just "participate"; he tricked the Sister. He likely lured her to the well (perhaps with her pet rabbit, which is why she wears the Rabbit mask) under false pretenses. He is the Deceiver; she is the Sacrificial Lamb.
• the specific Deaths— In the secret coffins, you see the ghosts of the friends dying in specific ways:
— Hood: Shot/Executed (War crimes/Deserter).
— Bucket: Beaten/Starved.
— Bandage: Blown up (Landmine).
— Brother: Hanged.
The Brother's death is the most telling. Hanging is often a punishment for criminals or a method of suicide from guilt. He is the only one who "survives" until the very end because his punishment is to watch everyone else die first, over and over again.
• the well is the clock— The game ends with the well overflowing. The game begins with the world flooded. This basically confirms the timeline is a circle. The "explosion" or "flood" at the end of the game is the exact same event that creates the ocean we are sailing on at the start. The Lamb isn't destroying the world; it is resetting the server for the next loop of suffering.
• The adults' symbolism— The monsters aren't random. I think they are the boys' perception of Adults. Notice how the enemies are grotesque, oversized, and obsessed with consumption or violence? To a child during wartime, adults are monsters. They are "Sheep" following orders (soldiers), "Pigs" gluttonous for resources while kids starve, or twisted things that simply want to hurt you.
• the lamb (or the goat)— I alos think the final "Lamb" monster isn't just a demon but It is also the Sister's rage. The ritual worked, but not how they wanted. It gave physical form to her terror and betrayal. She was the "Rabbit" (prey). By sacrificing her, they forced her to become the "Lamb" (religious sacrifice). But in death, she rejected the role of the victim and became the Wolf in sheep's clothing. So ewhen the massive Lamb entity eats the children at the end, it is reabsorbing the life force they stole from her, resetting the cycle so she can punish them again. Maybe the "REANIMAL" are the boys, beasts forced to be reanimated endlessly to pay for their sin.
Me and my brother finished it from start to finish in about 4 hours last night including a short break I took to get my son ready for bed
I love how her dress got more and more blood soaked in that last chapter
That was such a cool detail and really added on to the atmosphere and brutality imo
He’s creepy as hell, and the only monster that speaks to you. He was the FIRST monster we saw in the marketing for this game. And he shows up once.
Don’t get me wrong I loved the pelican monster and the flock of birds but honestly I would’ve loved a chase scene with him.
I know that it's pretty obvious what the game was about but I still want to pretend that it's not and tell you how I personally understood the plot. So we've seen that the children were messing with some dark occultic magic, so I think that they were trying to sacrifice the rabbit girl, because later we've seen them dropping her body to the well. And remember the secret ending, where the girl was surrounded by black shadows each wearing a white mask? I think those are the souls of those who were sacrificed before. After the girl probably died from falling, the shadows merged together and settled inside the girl's body, taking the form of sheep. That's interesting, becaise in some cultures sheep are believed to be the only animals who have human qualities like speech, feelings, etc. After that we saw the water filling the well and the area around, then the flood delivered the girl's body to the surface, where she was picked up by the boy. That's why the sheep was so eager to kill the children and destroy the city — it was carrying the anger of the innocent who were killed during the rituals.
If I play on PS5 using friend pass (the trial) can I play with my friend on pc who owns the full game? thanks
