Moderator alys announces to the other mods via Slack DM that she's been fired as admin.
alys shares with us the message she sent to the staff that lead to her being fired, pt. 1.
In the beginning, she references an exploit we caught someone using, where they gifted random users hundreds of dollars worth of subscriptions before we managed to stop them. This all took place on Sunday the 6th of November between 00:48 AM and 04:34 AM (GMT+1), or late Saturday afternoon PST.

Habitica staff member beffymaroo announces in the moderator Slack that alys has been fired. Also visible is the first bit of the response the moderators prepared together, posted by cantras.
The moderators' strike announcement as posted to the mod slack.
The moderators' strike announcement as posted to the Habitica guild 'Aspiring Socialites', 01-12-2022. Following this post, all moderators removed their mod privileges pending strike resolution. The only one unable to do so was alys, due to a bug that, ironically, she would've been able to circumvent to demote herself if she'd still had the admin privileges that staff had previously trusted her with.
Note that in the following screenshot from Habitica guilds, the 'delete' button is still visible on posts that aren't mine (MaybeSteveRogers). This is due to some quirk of the Habitica code that makes it look like we still have moderator privileges, but the button is not functional.

cantras responds to beffymaroo in Slack, saying that the moderators will discuss the initial response. Note that staff is expecting a reply by Monday, meaning we have to take the weekend to discuss; while we as volunteers always made ourselves available for moderation business on weekends, the paid staff *never* has.

The screenshot from the bug report Slack referenced in the moderators' reply above. Purple is a current staff member; red is a contractor; light blue is a regular, long-term contributor (who was never a mod). The staff member never even acknowledges the contributor's comments, an example of the behavior we came to expect from them in general.

Staff member and CFO of Habitica, Vicky Hsu AKA redphoenix responds to our clarifying statement, 05-12-2022.
Note that while she says she has "resisted this step for far longer than advised", the last time new mods were brought on was April 2020, less than two full years ago.
beffymaroo posts the announcement to 'Aspiring Socialites' that the moderation team has been "let go" at almost exactly the same time redphoenix let us know via Slack. Also shown are former mods cantras, shanaqui, and MaybeSteveRogers' replies to this announcement.
After the posts in the guild 'Aspiring Socialites' were made, there was a point where the mods' posts were ahead of staff's in terms of likes. However, beffymaroo's post suddenly got five more, evening it out to 12 likes per post. When we inspected who had liked the posts, we found what we assume to be the four test accounts of one staff member. Compared the user IDs listed in the lefthand side of the tool with the user IDs in the URL-bar of the five screenshotted accounts.
Following an outpouring of support for the moderation team in the guild, staff effectively shuts down the discussion in any public Habitica spaces. Supportive statements added below this screenshot for extra context.
