Claude Opus 4.6 verdict: highly effective, just also blew through my quota very fast.
I might need to upgrade to Max 5x or 20x if I'm going to be doing this regularly. It figured out how to implement SSL fingerprinting impersonation in literally minutes, it was hella effective.

I spent 25 CAD of the free funny money tokens in a single sitting. It was 1000% worth it for the toil that the program it wrote just eliminated for me.
and I spent the remaining $45 of "extra usage" plus one standard usage window on the $20/month tier. bsky.app/profile/lizt...
in other news I gastowned^W claude-agent-teamed a reporting workflow for enabling laypeople who are not technical to file abuse reports to hosting providers and their upstreams... hopefully coming soon to an @endharassment.net website near you. It cost $45 in free tokens.

anyways, thanks for the donation of credits, !

I wonder if Cursor 3x is actually the sweet spot here, I know I need more than Claude Pro but less than Claude Max 5x. downside is losing the Claude webapp etc.
Maybe there's an argument that this doesn't matter given their growth. But trying to manage it is impossible. If we find a viable alternative I’m switching asap.
If Opus 4.5 was the one that convinced devs this is a serious tool 4.6 is going to be the one that convinces non coders.
yeah, I think Opus 4.6 has persuaded me it's a better default choice than Sonnet 4.5. maybe this will change if Sonnet 5 comes out tomorrow or next week as is rumoured.
previously I was leery of the 3x cost, but if it just does things even 2x faster and with fewer round-trips that pays for itself.
Doll sent it to work looking through Opus 4.5 code and it was able to both fix bad tests Opus just made tautological, but also find many bugs and fix them just as a one shot job.
yeah there may be something in here. I haven't really figured out what, yet, but it is more productively moving towards solutions in relatively complex playwright tests
these things still absolutely need a "wait, I'm stuck" detector somewhere in there because a web search usually straightens it out
heh TLS fingerprint spoofing was one of my test projects, although I got it to implement the whole TLS client too (back on 4.5)
I burned my Pro credits for a year on my first month of Max 5x and have enough left over for the second month. I regret to inform you it may actually be worth it.
I have access at work to the shinies, I am just debating whether this is also worth having a personal subscription beyond the $20/mo
I suspect I will be moving up from the $20 plan in the next weeks as well
Max 20x is soooo worth it, even if I felt iffy about getting it at first
I just use Claude as much as I want and don't really stress about usage limits anymore, though I know some folks doing intense Gastown-type stuff still do
my work has 20x, but for personal use I find it hard to justify that amount of money.
on the other hand right now I pay a legal team to do some very time-consuming manual things, and it would be nice to let them focus on higher value judgment calls and analysis.
I’m on the $A150 a month plan and have yet to hit a limit. Best investment I’ve made in a long time.
Run it on bedrock! The only limit… is your imagination
yeah I'm trying to decide how much it is worth to me to have access to opus class models for personal use.
As someone who leans on other people’s efforts to do this normally (uv add tls-client) do you ever write up what you prompted and what it did?
I just said "I'm still being blocked by SSL fingerprinting, please fix it". and then it figured out what library to use: refraction-networking/utls

Nice! BRB gonna go burn up my tokens for the week
