Received reply from PSD for status update that I was DQ’d, HR isn’t aware yet and scheduled my drug test. Failed poly over 2 yrs ago.
Haven’t received an official letter yet, but got a reply for status update with the security division and was told my application was denied due to findings on what was forwarded (I failed a poly more than the 2 yrs ago with CBP). Received a call today to take a drug test. FYI for the people with failed polys who continued the process. It’s because security personnel haven’t reached out to HR yet. HR gives the FJO and other steps not PSD. Rumors are true, if you got an FJO/EOD..expect a DQ either before or sometime during the academy once PSD forwards the news to HR. Just a heads up.

Yea, I’m not even going to do my drug test, I’m awaiting the official DQ from HR instead.

Can you post the email you got from the security division

TemperatureEastern44 · 9/28/2025, 5:01:59 AM
Did PSD told you specifically that they will dq those in or after academy because of failed polygraph??
[–]
TemperatureEastern44 · 9/28/2025, 5:18:54 AM
Being in the academy makes no difference, suitability decisions are all the same whether pre-during-post academy. Can be DQ’d at anytime.

I received the same email. I failed poly in 2019 for CBP and I passed so many polys from other Federal agencies ( I chose not to pursue the opportunity) since then and currently hold an active security clearance from DOD and somehow I’m not suitable for ICE 😂 I’m local LEO with 7 years experience. Poly failures are supposed to be valid for 2 years so I don’t understand why they are DQing applicants with more two years Poly failures.

I know that but you are claiming psd will dq those applicants I want you to show me the email they sent you that they were doing that. You said they sent you an email right?

FunObjective4803 · 9/28/2025, 5:41:31 AM
They are only doing DQs of people that said something during their polygraph that was not on their eQuip/ got tricked into saying something or the wording of what was asked and of people that admitted to something even small after they were playing the whole “im your friend.. just admit so I can help you” routine.

TemperatureEastern44 · 9/28/2025, 5:49:23 AM
I what email did you get? You decided not to take the job offer?
[–]
FunObjective4803 · 9/28/2025, 6:02:09 AM
I never got tricked, any failed answer is considered deception, theres no such thing as a non-deceptive failed question…I didn’t even stay for the questioning. What you’re saying has no proof behind it, thats theory. Perhaps to hold onto hope, who knows. A failed poly is a failed poly. Its all considered deceptive if its failed.

Yes I didn’t move forward with the federal agency that cleared my background investigation due to some family reasons. I do not understand why ICE is DQing ppl for poly failures that is older than two years.

When exactly did you fail, so I can show you proof.

You are right, I knew from the beginning that my examiner would fail me even before the exam started. The way she looked at me when I arrived was weird. She even told me during the test that I will fail. Mind you I did not lie to her, she was not supposed to say that while the test was going on. I didn’t think much of it at that time because the process took too long and I already secured my local LEO job. If I knew that this would come up 6 years later I would have requested for HR to review the poly Video recording. I still have her email and her name so I will be filling a formal complaint.

No I mean when did you fail the polygraph, what year and month

BigDaddyVaile · 9/28/2025, 6:14:37 AM
In the first days of the surge hiring, they still allowed anyone with failed polys from other agencies such as CBP because they were not ICE polys. They then realized how overwhelmed with applicants they were and decided from then on that anyone with a failed polys was going to be DQed in order to decrease the number of applicants. Is it fucked up? Sure is. But those of us who were in the first few days of the hire with failed polys are fine and will continue working. I was sworn in sep 8th, finished my academy sep 19th, finished DT, finished the first of two shooting qualifications, and will be put in for my creds and fitted for vest soon. Can someone from PSD be a fcking dck and fire me? Sure. But I’m not worried. I’ve been told they’ve spent tons of money to get me where I am and I’ve come this far, and there’s a huge eye on not wasting money. To fire me now for something they were perfectly fine with before the surge would be a huge waste of money and piss off the admin of ICE.

TemperatureEastern44 · 9/28/2025, 6:31:36 AM
Dam sorry to hear that.
[–]
TemperatureEastern44 · 9/28/2025, 6:39:01 AM
Yes please do. I am as told by the examiner when he asked me if I had enough rest before the test i told him I worked a 16 hour shift and drove to take the polygraph he said that on the email it said to get enough rest and not to work a shift before. He said he was going to talk to his manager came back and said ok we can go ahead and do the test…… failed. Maybe how do you summit a review?

We understand that this decision may be disappointing, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience it may cause. If you have questions or require further clarification, please feel free to direct any inquiries regarding your background investigation and/or polygraph examination to ICE-Personnel-Security@dhs.gov. This was included in the email. I read the email from CBP again and it states clearly that if you fail Poly, you have to wait 2 years from the date of the poly failure to reapply. It’s been 6 years now 😂

I hope not, everyone’s luck is different. My buddy didn’t even do half of the paperwork I completed and he is already on duty. They never sent him for drug test!

I failed a polygraph with Los Angeles Sheriffs department, it’s not federal tho. Is that DQ worthy?
