A good strategy game that brings back the spirit of 90s RTS classics like C&C and Dune, while managing to modernize that feel without losing its essence. It has enjoyable and well-designed mechanics. I think some units could use a bit of balance tweaking, but it’s definitely a game worth giving a try — and it’s free!

Nice old school looking RTS. But lacks a bit of balancing in some missions.

Any game that tries to add its own formula to the C&C RTS I am going to love. Retro Commander does that - its not perfect but it does tickle those nostalgic nerves ends.
Good:
Nice variety of units and combat craft - air, land, sea.
Good fast forward option
Resource collection is simple

Bad
Maps are a bit generic, not much interaction with the environment
Path finding can be tricky for some units
Micro-managing power supply can get boring at times.
Campaign hero is a weakling - you lost each stage if he dies. He aint no Tanya

More than solid retro-inspired RTS - the influence of Red Alert is the most apparent, yet the game has its own identity. The graphics fit this traditional style of strategy well, and the nuke effects on terrain (among other effects) blend really well in the final presentation (in a manner of speaking).

I've played just a bit though - so expect a fuller review once I've played some more. Still, pretty good game for anyone wanting a newer alternative to oldschool Red Alert or C&C with some modern polishing on it.

pretty good, it's got great potential. i really like how it deals with the post-apocalyptic and sci-fi themes tho, i can send a horde of drones at someone and build a robot army like i'm the tau in 40k

Sometimes, no matter how good the filet mignon is, you just want a good solid burger. This is that good solid burger. It's got its own character to it, and it's own strategy, but the real core of it is tried and true rts. The gimmicks like stealth bombers and shielded tanks are cool, but they only work because the game is built around these solid concepts. It's not the best game in the world, but it's not trying to be. It's just trying to be good and pretty fun, and it succeeded.

Multiplayer matches are hard to find due to the small community, but that's not really the game's fault.

Fantastic RTS game!
Reminded me of Supreme Commander, but it's strong enough to have it's own persona and mechanics

Great game with HUGE potential. To the people complaining about it being freemium: you can get the modding + all maps package by literally just translating for 1-2 hours and given that most of the playerbase doesn't own it: you will still play on default maps in mp. the default maps all are good to play, and keep in mind that this is a free game without ads: the dev needs to... stay alive.
