Those might be radioactive, looks like they contain cesium 137. Be careful.

Spark Gaps. Be careful not to break them open, as they contain radioactive Cesium-137!

Arc gaps set to fire at a specific voltage and they do have some kind of gas in it. I saw it in an application across a 50 KWAM station coaxial transmission line to protect against EMP I believe cesium 137 was the gas in it.
